GESTAMP SOLAR STARTS TO OPERATE TWO SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANTS IN PERU.

(Madrid, March the 8th,2013) Gestamp Solar, photovoltaic solar division of Gestamp Renewables, starts to operate two solar photovoltaic plants in Peru. This Project is composed by two solar photovoltaic plants: one called Tacna Solar located in Tacna and the other one called Panamericana Solar located in Moquegua, both in Peru. They have a total capacity of 40 megawatts (MW), 20 MW each. These two plants (40MW) currently provide electricity to the local area through the National Interconnected Electrical System (SEIN). Tacna Solar y Panamericana Solar, are two solar photovoltaic power plants adjudicated to Gestamp Solar and to Solarpack by a tendering procedure of the Peruvian government on February 2010 and the two companies develop together. The Peruvian government contract includes the supply of 98 GWh of annual solar electricity for a 20 years period. These solar power plants are, currently, the largest in Latin America providing enough energy to supply more than 70.000 homes of the area. Moreover, it will annually avoid the emission of more than 50.000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
