Professional Experience

Smart & Secure Environment, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore

(03-08-2009 ~ 31-03-2012) Smart & Secure Environment is a National Research project with the collaboration among 8 leading institutes of Tamil Nadu and funded by Government of India. The main focus of the project is to develop prototypes and to publish research papers in International Conferences and Journals. My primary task is to analyze the major security issues that threaten the Cyberworld and to provide optimal and innovative solutions to those hindrances.

ANFIS based DDoS attack detection in VoIP Networks October 2011 - March 2012 Java & Matlab Research Assistant/Developer & Researcher The expeditious and adept development of VoIP Networks is challenged by security threats as they utilize internet as the backbone. Entropy features are extracted to check the condition of the system (normal or abnormal). These features are classified by NeuroFuzzy technique called Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS). Submitted the paper to the International Journal and awaiting for the reply

Botnet Detection using MIB variables and Hidden semi-Markov Models February 2011 - September 2011 Java Research Assistant/Developer & Researcher Botnets are emerging threats that rules cyberworld by utilizing vulnerabilities that are present in the internet. MIB variables are extracted and the system is modeled as normal or abnormal using Hidden semi-Markov Model. Converted to prototype and submitted to the Government of India Submitted the Research paper to the International Journal and awaiting for the reply

Vulnerability Scanner May 2010 January 2011 Python Research Assistant/Developer & Researcher Vulnerability Scanner secures the host/network from the attacker by analyzing the vulnerable conditions like open ports, running software and operating system. To accomplish this task three modules are implemented and proposed: Network Topology Discovery, Detection of malicious files and software and Vulnerability Scanning.

Achievements

Designed the tool and submitted to the Government of India

Project Name Duration Designation/Role Description

Survey on Intrusion Detection Systems March 2010 May 2010 Research Assistant/Developer & Researcher Intrusion Detection Systems safeguard the host systems or network in case of any apparition of insecure sates. There are two types of Intrusion Detection Systems: Host based (HIDS) and Network based (NIDS). IDS usually employ Signature based, Behavior based or statistical based approach to detect intrusions in the network or systems.

Speaker Verification using Combinational features and ANFIS September 2010 February 2011 Matlab Research Assistant/Developer & Researcher Speaker Verification System authenticates the validity of claimed speaker by means of voice samples given by the speaker. We have applied robust and unique set of features by applying Mel-frequency Cepstral Coefficients, Linear Predictive Coefficients and Formants. These features are modeled and classified by Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference Systems. Research paper got accepted in International Conference and was published by ACM, one of the reputed publishers in the world. Designed the tool in the form of prototype and submitted to the Government of India

Notification Services August 2007 To May 2008 Unisys Corporations/ Telecom Java Software Engineer/Developer The main motive of this project is to provide personal alerting services to users by the communication devices of their choice. Subscribers are instantly notified about the events with the generation of event reports. The protocol associated with the above mechanism is Signaling System 7 (SS7) and SIP- Specific Event Notification (RFC 3265). Some of the functionalities that we accomplished in this project are Message Waiting Indicator and automatic callback services Strong understanding of SS7 standards RFC 3265, RFC 3976, RFC 2719, RFC 3398. Implemented/maintained the modules dealing with Message waiting indicator and automatic callback Good experience of communicating with the clients about their requirements and work status.

Next Generation IP phone January 2007 - July 2007 Unisys Corporations/Telecom Java Software Engineer/Developer SIP User Agent is a logical entity at VoIP endpoints capable of initiating and answering calls between the peers. The two peers are User Agent Client (UAC) and User Agent Server (UAS). The User Agent Client initiates the request and User Agent Server responds to them. This project involves the complete design and development of IP phone using SIP protocol (RFC 3261). Meticulous understanding of SIP Stack (RFC 3261) Fixed the bugs that are reported by the clients Created and developed some of the modules related to User Agent (Client & Server)
