Daily Reflections Februiarie 2012 In His Footsteps Don't worry about the behaviour of other sisters and brothers.

. Each one has to find his or her own way. In essence, the spiritual way is a lonely one, and only one can walk upon it. There is no room upon it for two! The Master walks ahead, and the abhyasi follows in His footsteps. That is all. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "In His Footsteps", pg. 230, by Revered Chariji Happiness Happiness is not anywhere outside. It is in our fixing the attention, in the steadiness of disposition, and in the withdrawal of our mind. Those who know this secret need not search for happiness outside. Taken from the book "Truth Eternal (1973; 5th edn., 2010)", Chapter "Knowledge, Upasana, Happiness", pg. 90, by Lalaji Maharaj Brave Heart Dejections and disappointments weaken our will and shatter our firmness. We should meet reverses with a brave heart and should never give way to the feeling of despondency, which is the worst drawback and the deadliest poison to spiritual life. Taken from the book "Complete Works of Ram Chandra, Vol. 1 (1989; 1st Indian edn., 1989)", Chapter "Ways and Means", pg. 40, by Babuji Maharaj Dharma The remedy to save oneself from this [the idea of freedom and bondage] is to convert evil intention into good intention and then act. Serving the fellow beings of the world in the light of this experience, without any selfish motive, is the best kind of sacrifice and worship. One who acts in such a way will be free from the bondage of karma (action). Such action is the nature (dharma) of this gross body. Taken from the book "Truth Eternal (1973; 5th edn., 2010)", Chapter "Karma", pg. 49, by Lalaji Maharaj Clean Fear As for the fear, please make a strong will and remove it during cleaning. Make a firm determination that it is leaving you forever and that you are being filled with His Grace. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Cleaning", pg. 128, by Revered Chariji The One The phrase 'I am many and I am none' refers to a deep spiritual truth, and I am happy that this has been revealed to you during a meditation. When an abhyasi starts meditation, he is many, having many characters, many personalities, and so on. As he progresses towards the goal, there is an integration by which the many becomes almost One. When it does become One, then the last stage, merger with the Master, happens (or must happen) and then there is only He. Do you understand this? Please try hard, and meditate again and again on this. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Meditation", pg.

120, by Revered Chariji Diary Whatever you feel during meditation is good. Just note the experiences in your diary and forget about them. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Cleaning", pg. 128, by Revered Chariji Create Vacuum Yes, when a vacuum is created in an abhyasi's heart, the transmission flows in to fill it. This is why it is necessary for the cleaning to be done effectively and create this vacuum. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Cleaning", pg. 121, by Revered Chariji Negative Feelings You must remove all negative feelings as this can hinder your spiritual growth. You can remove this during the cleaning process, making a firm will that they are leaving you forever. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Cleaning", pg. 128, by Revered Chariji Transmission Transmission is never felt, but you would feel the effect of transmission, for which you need to observe your condition after each sitting. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Cleaning", pg. 121, by Revered Chariji Change The only thing I can suggest is more cleaning, systematic cleaning, thorough cleaning, and meditation without fail every day. This is very important and you will surely find a great deal of change very soon. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Cleaning", pg. 124, by Revered Chariji Cleaning Cleaning is to be done at the end of the day's work, with the idea that all complexities, impurities, grossness, et cetera, are going out of your whole system through the back in the form of smoke or vapour, and that in its place, the sacred current of the Divine is entering your heart from the Master's heart. Please do not meditate on the things that you want to get rid of, but just brush them off. This is to be done using a firm will, and is to be done continuously for about twenty minutes. There is no prayer and you must make sure that you do not lapse into meditation. Do your cleaning in this manner and you will see its effect for yourself. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Cleaning", pg. 121, by Revered Chariji Firm Will All the problems that you have mentioned are due to lack of proper cleaning. Please make a firm will and do the cleaning thoroughly, making a determined thought that all past impressions are leaving you forever. Please do not again look for them to see if they are gone.

Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Cleaning", pg. 122, by Revered Chariji Dedication Surrender does not mean that you do not plan or make any effort at improving yourself. You must do everything in a state of remembrance of the Divine, putting your best efforts in everything that you do, and leave the results in His hands. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Cleaning", pg. 126, by Revered Chariji Yoga Yoga means union. Two things cannot unite when they are not fitted for each other. If one is imperfect to start with, it has to be corrected and remoulded and made perfect before it can have union with the perfect one. Therefore yoga, as union, is the culmination of spiritual practice, and not merely a practice itself, as commonly represented. The perfection of the imperfect is what has to be achieved before union is possible. This is achieved by the cleaning process under Sahaj Marg. Now the two have to merge to become one - Yoga is yet to be achieved. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Cleaning", pg. 122, by Revered Chariji Remembrance Spiritually speaking, my Master always said that it is better to be physically away but remembered by the Master than to be with him and not remembered. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "In His Footsteps", pg. 236, by Revered Chariji Guilt There is no place for guilt in spirituality. You should avoid brooding and entertaining any guilt feeling. Where there is love, there can be no fear. When you do Master's work backed by love for the Master within, you will have no cause for worry or fear. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Cleaning", pg. 123, by Revered Chariji Deserve When we come to the question of spirituality, Babuji Maharaj said: "be deserving and then desire." The onus for creating the deservingness is on the abhyasi because, at least that much we must be able to attempt, if not to achieve. After all, Babuji Maharaj said it is the intention that matters rather than fulfillment or success in achieving things. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "In His Footsteps", pg. 242, by Revered Chariji Ignore Sometimes problems keep recurring, but have lesser and lesser intensity, and you should not magnify these problems by giving them attention, then they become bigger. During our life, whether temporal or spiritual, many things will happen and must happen, and we have to learn to bear them with

strength, courage and fortitude, all of which reflect faith in the Master. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "In His Footsteps", pg. 237, by Revered Chariji Mistakes I remember Babuji's letter to me, one of his last letters, where he says, "I have made many mistakes, mistakes and mistakes." And there is a hyphen and he says, "no mistakes, they are hooting on their own." [He chuckles.] It was typically his language, the real meaning of which, I suppose, only he knows. But the attitude is evident there: we should not be bogged down by mistakes. Nor should we be elated by success. We move on. Taken from the book "What is Sahaj Marg", pg. 133, by Revered Chariji Complete Cleaning What we are afraid of depends on the samskaras we carry inside us. Therefore when this cleaning is finished you cannot have fear any more. Therefore saints are fearless. They will go in the jungle, you know, the elephant comes, the lion goes with them, the tiger walks in front of them, they have no fear. How can they be afraid? There is no samskara here. No temptation, because temptation is also like that - from the heart. ... So temptation, fear, everything must go when cleaning is complete. Taken from the book "The Fruit of the Tree", Chapter "Q&A IV", pg. 69, by Revered Chariji Life Life is always full of problems, and I too have my share of it. These are meant to strengthen us - our faith and character. The soul in its wisdom chooses the life in which it can best evolve spiritually. So instead of bemoaning the past karmas, fate, et cetera, it would be better to be grateful for the situations that aid in our spiritual growth. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "In His Footsteps", pg. 236, by Revered Chariji Anger and Jalousy Anger and jealousy are both detrimental to spiritual growth. If you try to cultivate an attitude of Constant Remembrance, you will see that the anger will get dissipated before it gets out of control, and for this, of course, sincere and regular practice is essential. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Constant Remembrance", pg. 178, by Revered Chariji Be Open The very fact that somebody withdraws into a shell means that he has enclosed himself in something which is impenetrable. I once asked Babuji Maharaj why His Grace cannot penetrate it. He said: Nature does not permit it, God does not permit it, spirituality does not permit it. Spirituality cannot be thrust upon somebody or forced upon somebody since that has to be voluntarily accepted by each first. It is in this background, or this perspective, that you must see this situation vis--vis the Master, the method and the Mission.

Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "In His Footsteps", pg. 242, by Revered Chariji Attitude You should forget about the past and the self and turn towards the Self and the future. It is not enough to be regular in the practice; character formation and control of the mind is our duty that goes along with it to be efficient and beneficial. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Attitude", pg. 190, by Revered Chariji Negative Attitude A negative attitude will weaken your will, and you must remove all feelings of negativity during the cleaning process without worrying about its cause. Try to cultivate a positive approach in all the situations in your life. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "Attitude", pg. 190, by Revered Chariji Love Affair ...essentially the relationship between a Master and a disciple is a love affair, at the highest level. So there should be no shyness, holding back, you know, all this nonsense. So ...you dont mind if I say what the conclusion is, that where there is hesitation, and all the reserve about coming to the Master, there is no love. Taken from the book "Heart to Heart, Vol. 2", Chapter "The Way of Progress", pg. 129, by Revered Chariji One Method I have to tell you that it is as difficult to practice two systems at the same time as it is to ride two horses at the same time. Therefore one has to make a wise choice and determine whether the goal is spiritual evolution and how to achieve it. If the goal is not spiritual evolution to the highest level open to human beings, then of course any system may be followed according to one's taste and expectations. If it is spiritual evolution, then one has to be very careful in choosing the right way. Of course, Master's offer to help you will always be there. Taken from the book "The Spider's Web, Vol. 3", Chapter "In His Footsteps", pg. 246, by Revered Chariji Choice As Babuji Maharaj would have put it, we have the right to make only the right choice, never the right to make a willful wrong choice.
