Library PROFILE UNIVERSITY LIBRARY YMCAUST Library is a modern library meant to fulfill the information needs of students, Research

Scholars, faculty and staff of various Departments of the University. It is housed in a fully air conditioned single story building. The magnificent library building is centrally located within easy reach from all the Departments, hostels and residential areas. The University Library building has a total area of 7200 sq. ft. The Library has two Reading Halls with a total capacity of 120 seats. One reading hall with a seating capacity of 60 has been provided with the Periodical Section where all the journals, newspapers and magazines are displayed. Besides reading area in the library, it also has a separate reading room where students can also bring their own books to study. University Library has a rich collection of 61126 volumes in the stream of Engineering & Technology, applied sciences and Management. It follows Open Access System. Library is also subscribing good number of journals, magazines and newspapers for its readers. It is well equipped with modern technology like Internet, Bar Code technology etc. The library is automated with the Library Automation Software Libsys and its Acquisition, Cataloguing and Circulation activities are fully computerized. Every member has been provided a Bar Coded Library Membership Card. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is available to locate the reading material in the library. The library is also member of INDEST Consortium. Services
The university library is providing following services to the readers:

Circulation service: Entirely computerized circulation service to the users using Bar Coded Library Card provided to the readers for check out/ checks in of reading material.

Online searching/ Internet facility Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) Service: OPAC is the representation of the librarys collection of learning resources. The online catalogue is accessible to the readers within the library on the computer kept separately for this purpose.

Book Bank Facility Reference service Reading Facility Educational CD ROMs searching and Current Awareness Service (CAS) *********************************************************************************

GENERAL LIBRARY RULES 1. The reader shall maintain perfect order and silence in the library. 2. Making noise, spitting, smoking and to visit the library in intoxicated condition is strictly prohibited in the library. 3. A reader shall not write upon, damage or mark any book belonging to the library. 4. Students/members will vacate their seats ten minutes before the closing of library. 5. The librarian reserve the right to suspend/cancel the membership of any member found misbehaving with the library staff or for any other indecent behaviour. 6. The librarian can recall any book from any member at any time. 7. No book shall be issued to loan, which librarian feels is not in a condition to be safely handled by the borrower. 8. The books issued on book bank are issued for one semester only, no book will be issued for the new semester unless previous semester books are returned.

9. The library will not be responsible for members personal belongings/ property lost in the library. 10. The members are not allowed to use mobiles in library premises. They are requested to switch off their mobiles or keep them on vibration while entering in the library. 11. The readers are requested to check the books before borrowing and ensure that these are not damaged. If a book is found to be damaged or certain pages are missing, the reader should get this statement recorded on the book by library staff, otherwise he/ she shall be held responsible for the damage found at the time of returning books. They have to pay binding charges as per rule if it is found damaged or have to replace a new book if it is not fit for binding. 12. In case any book lost by the reader, he/ she can replace the new brand book of latest edition of the same book or he/ she can deposit the current price of the book. In case the current price is not available with the librarian, double cost of the book will be charged. 13. The entry in the library will be allowed strictly with library card only.

Online Catalogue

Online Public Access Catalogue is available for the readers on the computers kept separately for this purpose within the library. Users can find their required books through OPAC by various approaches e.g. Author Title Subject/ Keywords Words in title and Boolean search
