DESCRIPTION Thissectionofthespecificationincludesthefurnishing,installation,connection andtestingofthemicroprocessorcontrolled,intelligentreportingfirealarm equipmentrequiredtoformacomplete,operative,coordinatedsystem.Itshall include,butnotbelimitedto,alarminitiatingdevices,alarmnotification appliances,FireAlarmControlPanel(FACP),auxiliarycontroldevices, annunciators,andwiringasshownonthedrawingsandspecifiedherein. ThefirealarmsystemshallcomplywithrequirementsofNFPAStandard72for ProtectedPremisesSignalingSystemsexceptasmodifiedandsupplementedby thisspecification.Thesystemshallbeelectricallysupervisedandmonitorthe integrityofallconductors. ThefirealarmsystemshallbemanufacturedbyanISO9001certifiedcompany andmeettherequirementsofBSEN9001:ANSI/ASQCQ90011994. TheFACPandperipheraldevicesshallbemanufactured100%byasingleU.S. manufacturer(ordivisionthereof). ThesystemanditscomponentsshallbeUnderwritersLaboratories,Inc.listed undertheappropriateULtestingstandardaslistedhereinforfirealarm applicationsandtheinstallationshallbeincompliancewiththeULlisting. TheinstallingcompanyshallemployNICET(minimumLevelIIFireAlarm Technology)techniciansonsitetoguidethefinalcheckoutandtoensurethe systemsintegrity. BASICSYSTEMFUNCTIONALOPERATION Whenafirealarmconditionisdetectedandreportedbyoneofthesystem initiatingdevices,thefollowingfunctionsshallimmediatelyoccur: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Allsystemoutputprogramsassignedviacontrolbyeventinterlock programmingtobeactivatedbytheparticularpointinalarmshallbe executed,andtheassociatedsystemoutputs(notificationappliances and/orrelays)shallbeactivated.

Aspartofthesubmittal,includeaquotationforallpartsandmaterial,andall installationandtestlaborasneededtoincreasethenumberofintelligentor addressabledevicesbytenpercent(10%).Thisquotationshallincludeintelligent smokedetectors,intelligentheatdetectors,addressablemanualstations, addressablemonitormodulesandaddressablemodulesequalinnumbertoone tenthofthenumberrequiredtomeetthisspecification(listactualquantityof eachtype). Thequotationshallincludeinstallation,testlabor,andlabortoreprogramthe systemforthis10%expansion.IfadditionalFACPhardwareisrequired,include thematerialandlabornecessarytoinstallthishardware.
