RRRA ELECTIONS OFFICE [ELXN010320130007, DVSM 2000A] Standards for Team Names AGENCY: RRRA Elections (RE) ACTION: IMPLEMENTATION OF REGULATION. SUMMARY: The elections office is implementing regulations and informing participants in the 2nd RRRA Election of 2013 or potential participants of changes and new regulations applicable to TEAM NAMES. Team Names and Potential Voter Confusion, the previous regulation set out criteria for TEAM NAMES to be the following: a.) Must be distinct from each other If two teams submit the same TEAM NAME within the same school year, within a reasonable timeframe, neither team shall be allowed to use the TEAM NAME submitted for the duration of the school year, if and when the CEO makes the determination that both teams had a reasonable expectation to use the team name. Additionally, TEAM NAMES must also now: b.) Not be offensive c.) Be approved by the elections office The elections office shall accept a submission of a TEAM NAME from an OFFICIAL AGENT or in the case where there is no OFFICIAL AGENT, from all three (3) POTENTIAL CANDIDATES or CANDIDATES. The elections office shall only accept submission of a team name through electronic correspondence which may be sent to elections@rrra.ca Submission of a TEAM NAME and approval does not exempt a team from submitting a ballot registration form. Operational names shall continue to be used for paperwork until the conclusion of the validation period. NOTE: This regulation sets out standards during the RRRA election pertaining to TEAM NAMES but is not to be considered all inclusive and shall be administered alongside the Electoral Code, other regulations set out by the elections office and the interpretations of the Electoral Code as per the CEO and DEO. This shall include Team Names and Potential Voter Confusion, which shall remain in force. EFFECTIVE: February 25th, 2013 at 12:01 AM EST (Retroactive).
