Advantages 1. low cost 2.low power consumption 3.highly reliable 4.secured

The main advantages of ZigBee are:

Power saving, as a result of the short working period, low power consumption of communication, and standby mode Reliability: Collision avoidance is adopted, with a special time slot allocated for those communications that need fixed bandwidth so that competition and conflict are avoided when transmitting data. The MAC layer adopts completely confirmed data transmission, that is, every data packet sent must wait for the confirmation from the receiver Low cost of the modules, and the ZigBee protocol is patent fee free Short time delay, typically 30 ms for device searching, 15 ms for standby to activation, and 15 ms for channel access of active devices Large network capacity: One ZigBee network contains one master device and maximum 254 slave devices. There can be as many as 100 ZigBee networks within one area Safety: ZigBee provides a data integrity check and authentication function. AES-128 is adopted and at the same time each application can flexibly determine its safety property. Disadvantages 1.low transmission rate 2.smaller distance The main disadvantages of ZigBee include short range, low complexity, and low data speed. Due to their high cost, GSM and GPRS are normally used in concentrators to transmit data to the main station, or in high end multifunction meters. ZigBee is used mainly in the concentrators, data collectors, repeaters, and meters installed in the urban distribution AMR systems and prepayment systems. Because of the good real time capability of RF, meters are often equipped with a remote control function.

Logical device

1. A subcomponent of a physical device that has its own address or ID.

2. Device's name, as given by the operating system that detected the device. One physical device may have more than one logical device, in other words, one physical device may have more than one name to the operating system.

A logical device is a repository object that represents either a physical device, such as a Nokia mobile phone, or an abstract device, such as email. Logical devices represent the interface between Wireless Edition transformers and the target devices or applications.
3.

4. A logical device is an entity that contains devices or device groups 6. logical device table A table that is used to keep track of information pertaining to an input/output operation on a logical unit, and that contains such information as the symbolic name of the logical unit, the logical device type and the name of the file currently attached to it, the logical input/output request currently pending on the device, and a pointer to the buffers currently associated with the device.

Binding: Binding provides a mechanism for attaching an end point on one node to one or more end points on another node. Binding can even be destined for group of nodes. The binding table is smart, and keeps track of both the short (16 bit NWK address) and long (IEEE) address of a node. If a destination device has changed its short address (either due to ZigBee end device moving from one parent to another in ZigBee stack profile or due to address conflict in ZigBee pro),the binding table entry is updated automatically to point to that new address.
