Intheliterature,thestagesofgrief,as proposedbyElizabethKublerRoss (1969)involvenumbness,shock, anger,bargaining,depression,and ultimatelyacceptance.More contemporarymodelsofthegrief processportrayacyclicalpath,in whichanindividualmayexperience revisittheseemotionalstages throughouttheirgriefprocess.For individualswithbraininjury,such theyhavebecome.Formany, revisitingtheseremindersisa challengingandlifelongprocess.By exploringtheseemotionsand examiningtheireect,thepilot ExpressiveArtsGriefandLoss TherapyGroupcanassistBCCclients. Clientswillbesupportedtomove forward,defylimitationsandcreatea newnormalwhichispartofthe griefprocess. ThephotographycomponentoftheExpressiveArtsGriefandLossTherapyGroupisco facilitatedbylongtimecaregiverandvolunteer,MuftyMathewson.Muftybringsunique giftsofbothphotographicandrsthandexperienceofthischallengingjourney.Muftys daughter,whoacquiredabraininjurymanyyearsago,hasledMuftytoherown explorationoftheseprocessesthroughthelensofhercamera.Groupmembersare givensomebasicknowledgeaboutphotographyandthenexploretopicssuchascolour, darkandlight,composition,thefourelementsandmetaphoricalrepresentationsofloss andofhope.Groupmembersthenbegintocaptureimagesoftheirownexperiencesof livingwithbraininjury.Throughthelensoftheircameras,groupmembershavetheopportunitytoponderandfocuson theirownperceptionsofwhatbraininjuryhasmeanttothem. Throughthecollectivelensofthegroup,clientsareinvitedtoshare andexploreimagesofhopeandresilienceintheirownlives, capturingforevertheirownunderstandingoftheuniquejourney theyareon.
