Specific Description of each criterion Highest Possible Score (HPS) = the number of items in the test a. Task Completion includes whether the student delivered his/her message with significant and relevant information; it also incorporates the adequacy or inadequacy of basic language structures in the sentences: sentence fragments, parallelism, etc. b. Level of Discourse and Vocabulary consists of using different structure of sentences in presenting the thought of the sentence. This reflects the writing style of the student: simple or sophisticated. It also embraces appropriateness of prepositions, conjunctions, and content words in the sentences. c. Mechanics: integrates the use of punctuation marks, capitalization, correct spelling of words, proper indention, appropriate transition signals, and proper margin
