Tolearnaboutyourtopic:Writinganannotatedbibliographyisexcellentpreparationfora researchproject.Justcollectingsourcesforabibliographyisuseful,butwhenyouhaveto writeannotationsforeachsource,you'reforcedtoreadeachsourcemorecarefully.You begintoreadmorecriticallyinsteadofjustcollectinginformation.Attheprofessionallevel, annotatedbibliographiesallowyoutoseewhathasbeendoneintheliteratureandwhere yourownresearchorscholarshipcanfit.Tohelpyouformulateathesis:Everygood researchpaperisanargument.Thepurposeofresearchistostateandsupportathesis.Soa veryimportantpartofresearchisdevelopingathesisthatisdebatable,interesting,and current.Writinganannotatedbibliographycanhelpyougainagoodperspectiveonwhatis beingsaidaboutyourtopic.Byreadingandrespondingtoavarietyofsourcesonatopic, you'llstarttoseewhattheissuesare,whatpeoplearearguingabout,andyou'llthenbeable todevelopyourownpointofview.
