1.1

GENERAL
SCOPE The work covered by this Section comprises furnishing all labor, equipment, appliances, materials, supply, installation, testing and commissioning to provide fully operational Rolling Shutter Doors

1.2

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS A. Door manufacturer must be quality certified and must have at least 20 years experience in the manufacture, installation and maintenance of industrial doors. B. Products and materials shall be from a manufacturer/supplier who operates a quality system which is registered to ISO 9001 series or approved equal.

C. All components must be obtained from the door manufacturer. D. All installation shall be performed by factory trained technicians. The Contractor's staff shall not be allowed to install the door, and any related accessories.

E. The supplier/installer must guarantee availability of pads and all the spares parts for the period of 10 years. F. Unless noted otherwise, all doors shall be provided with electric operator.

1.4 1.4.1

SUBMITTALS PRODUCTS AND MATERIALS APPROVAL. a) In order to verify compliance with the specification the Contractor shall submit information for all products and materials used in the Works to the Engineer for approval sufficiently in advance of their use in accordance with the Contract programme allowing for ordering and approval times. Reference shall also be made to Section 01000-09 of the specification on products and materials approval. Information to be submitted shall comprise but not necessarily be limited to: i. Manufacturers/suppliers name. ii. Product name/description. iii. Product technical data. iv. Drawings. v. Samples. vi. Factory Inspection Test Plan vii. Installation, testing & Maintenance procedures. viii. Material Certification with Country of Origin

1.4.2

METHOD STATEMENTS a) The Contractor shall submit method statements to the Engineer for approval at least 4 weeks in advance of commencing the site activity in accordance with Section 01000-07 of the specification. These shall comprise but not necessarily be limited to: i. Roller Shutter Door installation, testing and commissioning.

1.4.3

DRAWINGS a) The Contractor shall submit drawings to the Engineer for approval in advance of commencing the site activity in accordance with Section 01000-07 of the specification. These shall comprise but not necessarily be limited to: 1. Provide detailed drawings of special components required for the proper installation, including anchoring and supporting systems. 2. Prepare details minimum scale to fit A0 size paper as approved by the Engineer and show details of adjacent wall and ceiling finishes.

QUALITY CONTROL 1) Prior to dispatch of any product and/or material from source the Contractor shall notify the Engineer in writing in sufficient time to allow the Engineer the opportunity to inspect and test the product and/or material prior to delivery in accordance with Section 01000-08 of the specification. 2) To allow the Engineer to inspect the Works the Contractor shall give the Engineer a minimum of 24 hours notice of carrying out the following activities on site. i. Commencement of Roller Shutter Door installation, Testing, commissioning and handover.

1.6

DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING Delivery, storage and handling of products and materials shall be in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and the following provisions as minimum : a. Delivery, storage and handling shall at all times be performed in a manner to avoid product damage. b. Only nylon slings shall be allowed for lifting products. c. Products shall be stored off the ground on timber blocks of sufficient size and spacing to provide adequate support appropriately covered. d. The Contractor shall visually inspect all products upon delivery to site and report any damage to the Engineer. i. ii. iii. Any products damaged during delivery, storage and handling shall be marked by the Contractor and set aside. Proposals for repair of any damaged products shall be submitted in writing to the Engineer for approval. Any damaged products shall be removed from site and to be replaced within contractual time frame.

2.1

PRODUCTS
GENERAL A. Manufacturers. 1. Products specified herein are specified for the purpose of establishing minimum quality standards. 2. Products equal in quality or better than those specified may be acceptable subject to the ADSSC / Engineer's approval.

2.2

STANDARD FEATURES A. Curtains. 1. Curtains shall be made of interlocking flat faced Aluminum Slats. a) Thickness : 16 B&S Gauge (1.29 mm) b) Depth of Crown : 19mm on 62mm centers Min. 2. Slats shall adequately resist a minimum wind speed of 160 km/hr or wind class 3 (750 Pa). 3. Inside curtain face shall be comprised of self-locking rigid PVC extrusion cover encasing 19mm as minimum (manufacturer to submit the design calculation in confirmation of section of U Value and respective thickness of polyurethane foam insulation). Insulation thermal value U = 3.80 W/m2K ( as minimum) (General Applications - such as Pumping Stations and Treatments and General Storage Areas) Insulation thermal value U = 0.59 W/m2K ( as minimum) (Controlled environments such as MCC, Control Room)

3) Ends of alternate slats shall be provided with wind-locks which engage bars and lock the curtains into the guide. 4) Bottom of curtain shall be reinforced with minimum of two aluminum angles minimum 3.2mm thick separated by insulated slat and fitted with EDPM bottom weather seal. 5) Coating thickness shall not be less than 80microns powder coated and Color to match with the surrounding building construction and shall be approved by

B.

Counter Balance. 1. Curtain shall be coiled on a pipe or barrel of size sufficient to carry the door load with a deflection not to exceed 1:400 of door span 2. To be evenly balanced by helical springs contained in the pipe designed with a 25% safety factor. 3. All springs shall be: a. Anchored to the same tension rod. b. Held in position by the same adjusting wheel accessible from the outside.

C.

Hood 1. Hood shall be minimum 15 B&S gauge (1.45mm) aluminum. 2. Hood shall enclose curtain coil and counterbalance mechanism. 3. Lintel weather-stripping comprised of nylon brush stripping attached to lintel extending the full width of the opening shall be applied to minimize air infiltration.

D.

Guides 1. Fabricate from galvanized steel roll-formed channels minimum thickness 2.00mm to form a slat of sufficient depth to retain curtains in guides against heavy wind pressure. 2. Guides shall be provided with an integral wind-lock bars and bottom bar stops. 3. Top of guide shall be flared to reduce drag and wear.

F.

Guide Insulation Assembly 1. Jambs at each of the opening shall be totally weather-stripped and furnished with a thermal break to minimize heat loss transmission from interior to exterior. 2. Guide insulation assembly shall be equipped with a continuous brush seal application extending from floor to lintel, both inside and outside.

G.

Weather seal 1. Compressible strip shall serve as weather-strip along the bottom of the door.

2. All doors shall be equipped with a suitable chain hoist to allow operation during power failures. 3. Unless noted otherwise, all doors shall be fitted with a shoot-bolt.

2.3

ELECTRIC POWER OPERATORS a) Motor : 1. Motors shall meet all aspects of the door manufacturer's recommendations. 2. The Motor shall be 3 phase 50Hz. IP65 protected high-starting torque hoist-type having sufficient power to operate the door at a speed not less than 0.1m/s. 3. The Motor shall comply to the ADSSC Specification Section 16000 Electric Motors. 4. An efficient heat and current-sensing overload protective device shall be integrally installed with the unit to break the control circuit and prevent damage to motor windings. 5. Certificate to be provided for a conformity between the door and the Motor 6. Motors shall be connected to the torsion spring assembly by direct or chain or gear drive. 7. Motors shall transmit motion to the door without shock and shall automatically release the motor from the drive unit prior to stalling, so as to prevent damage to unit from overload. 8. The Motor is to ensure that the shaft moves with the opening and closing of the door to ensure that at every instance the slats are not bent during operation b. Controller 1. Doors shall be controlled by a momentary contact, 3-button pushbutton station marked OPEN, CLOSE, STOP, Protection category IP 65 at locations agreed with the Engineer. c. Safety Device 1. The bottom edge of the door shall he fitted with a safety device to stop and return the door if contact is made before the door is fully closed 2. The bottom seal of the door is to be provided with sensors. In the event of an obstruction being present in the opening of the door, the signal between the transmitter and receiver sensors will break and the door returns to the open position

d. Wiring 1. All wiring shall be suitably insulated. 2. Isolators shall be situated near the Control Unit.

3.1

EXECUTION
INSTALLATION A. Install doors in accordance with manufacturer's instructions with factory-trained technicians. 1. Anchors and inserts for guides, brackets, motors, controls, switches and other work shall be suitably located and accurately adjusted. 2. Upon completion, doors shall be free from warp, twist or distortion and shall be lubricated and adjusted to operate freely in a manner acceptable to the Engineer.

CLEANING AND PROTECTION PROTECTION. a. After installation, protect doors from damage during subsequent construction activities. b. Damaged materials will be rejected and shall be replaced with new components without any additional cost to the Client.

3.2.2

CLEANING-UP a) Upon completion, metal surfaces that are factory-finished shall be thoroughly cleaned and touched up as recommended by the manufacturer. b) Do not use abrasives, caustic or acid cleaning agents.

3.2.3

MANUFACTURER'S SERVICES a) Furnish the services of the electric door operator manufacturer's field service technician to inspect each final installation and supervise initial operation of the units. b) Manufacturer's certificate shall be submitted to the Engineer prior to testing the equipment. c) Furnish the services of the electrical door operator manufacturer's trained representative for a minimum of 1 trip of 1 day to instruct plant personnel on proper operation and maintenance procedures. d) Service may be combined with the inspection services specified
