Activating Your Data Subscription

The first time you launch Jeppesen Mobile FD you are asked to carefully read and agree to the Terms and Conditions of the End User License Agreement. Tap Agree to continue.

To activate Jeppesen Mobile FD: 1. Tap the Name field to access the device keyboard and enter your name. The name you enter allows Jeppesen Technical Support and Customer Service to identify which user in an organization activated a particular site key and which mobile application was activated. 2. Tap the Serial Number field and enter the 16-digit serial number from your current Jeppesen electronic charting subscription. The serial number is not case sensitive, and you do not need to enter the dashes. 3. Tap Activate.

To adjust Jeppesen Mobile FD global settings: 1. Tap Settings.

Change the General Settings, as needed: Switch Restore Brightness ON to restore the default brightness setting the next time you open Jeppesen Mobile FD. Switch Company Manuals ON if your company subscribes to Jeppesen Document Management Services and you want to access company manuals and other documents. Switch Sleep Mode OFF to ensure the iPad stays on during flight. This will reduce battery life.

To adjust Jeppesen Mobile FD global settings: 1. Tap Settings. 2. Tap JeppFD. 3. Change the General Settings, as needed. 4. Change the Enroute View settings, as needed: Switch Enable Moving Map ON to be able to center the enroute map over your aircraft location and to view the enroute map in a Track Up orientation. Switch Display Ownship ON to display an ownship symbol over the enroute map when receiving a signal from a GPS or FMS transmitter.

To adjust Jeppesen Mobile FD global settings: 1. Tap Settings. 2. Tap JeppFD. 3. Change the General Settings, as needed. 4. Change the Enroute View settings, as needed. 5. Change the Terminal Charts View settings, as needed: Switch Display Ownship on Airport Diagram ON to display an ownship position over the airport diagram when receiving a signal from a GPS or FMS transmitter. Default Chart Zoom Level options are Fit to Width or Fit Full Chart.

To adjust Jeppesen Mobile FD global settings: 1. Tap Settings. 2. Tap JeppFD. 3. Change the General Settings, as needed. 4. Change the Enroute View settings, as needed. 5. Change the Terminal Charts View settings, as needed. 6. Change the METAR and TAF settings to reflect your preferences for viewing text weather: Temperature unit options are Fahrenheit or Celsius. Default is Fahrenheit. Text weather Format options are Raw and Decoded. Default is Raw.

To adjust Jeppesen Mobile FD global settings: 1. Tap Settings. 2. Tap JeppFD. 3. Change the General Settings, as needed. 4. Change the Enroute View settings, as needed. 5. Change the Terminal Charts View settings, as needed. 6. Change the METAR and TAF settings, as needed. 7. Tap Account under the FlitePlan Online setting to enter your Jeppesen FlitePlan Online account Username and Password. Doing so enables you to import your saved routes from Jeppesen FlitePlan Online.

To adjust Jeppesen Mobile FD global settings: 1. Tap Settings. 2. Tap JeppFD. 3. Change the General Settings, as needed. 4. Change the Enroute View settings, as needed. 5. Change the Terminal Charts View settings, as needed. 6. Change the METAR and TAF settings, as needed. 7. Tap Account under the FlitePlan Online setting to be able to import your saved FPO route plans. 8. Note the Application Information, which includes the Serial Number, Site Key number, and Version of the application.

Change the Terminal Charts View settings, as needed. Change the METAR and TAF settings, as needed. Tap Account under the FlitePlan Online setting to be able to import your saved FPO route plans. Note the Application Information. Access Jeppesen Support information, review Terms and Conditions, and change these settings, as needed: Switch Reset User Settings ON to reset all of your Jeppesen Mobile FD preferences back to original settings. Switch Deactivate ON to remove all Jeppesen Mobile FD data, and deactivate the Jeppesen Mobile FD serial number.

Controls along the toolbar allow you to quickly complete commonly performed tasks. To view manuals in your subscription, you will first need to download a PDF reader app of your choice.

Use the Brightness controls to adjust brightness and switch between Day and Night Themes for optimal viewing on the flight deck. To adjust the brightness of Jeppesen Mobile FD from within the application: 1. Tap the Brightness button.

If the Enable Moving Map setting is ON in global settings, you can view GPS status information. To view details of your GPS status: Tap the GPS Status button.

Jeppesen Mobile FD will display the: GPS Time Accuracy Current global settings for: 1. Aircraft Position 2. Ownship An accuracy of: 32 m is required to display the ownship on the enroute map. 17 m is required to display the ownship on airport diagrams.

If the Enable Moving Map setting is ON in global settings, but the GPS signal is not of sufficient strength, Jeppesen Mobile FD displays a yellow badge over the GPS Status button. Tap the GPS Status button for details.

Access Notes
Jeppesen Mobile FD provides a true paper-replacement solution. All of the notes provided on precomposed paper charts are available here. Notes fall into three categories: Operational Tactically important operational information regarding specific navigation elements. These notes are equivalent to Ball Flag notes on paper charts. Regional Specific procedures, conditions or requirements for a specific geographical region. These notes are equivalent to Floating notes on paper charts. Reference Aeronautical reference information for large charted areas. These notes are equivalent to End Panel notes on paper charts.

With an Internet connection, Jeppesen Mobile FD can display:
Icing Radar (Echo Tops, Lightning) Surface Observations Turbulence Winds Aloft
Weather

To view weather along your route: 1. Tap the Wx button.

To view weather along your route: 1. 2. Tap the Wx button. Switch Wx to ON.

To view weather along your route: 1. 2. Tap the Wx button. Switch Wx to ON. Surface Observations are selected by default and become visible on the map as soon as the data is downloaded.
Weather will automatically download

every six minutes when the weather has been set to ON, and there is an Internet connection.
Only one weather selection can be made at one time. In other words, you cant display Surface Observations and Icing at the same time.
View Enroute Weather Icing

From the Weather popover:
Tap Icing and the altitude at which you want to view it.

To view the Icing Forecast:
Tap the appropriate Forecast button.
Note: Jeppesen Mobile FD can display up to four icing forecast images. The Forecast popover displays only the valid times. Expired forecasts do not display in the popover. The selected forecast time is remembered until Jeppesen Mobile FD is restarted.

View Enroute Weather Automatic Updates

Jeppesen Mobile FD automatically checks for weather updates every six minutes when the weather has been set to ON, and there is an Internet connection.
On this interval, all weather types are checked and only weather that has been updated on the Jeppesen Weather Services server is updated on the iPad. You will not be alerted to connectivity problems that prevent automatic weather updates. Jeppesen Mobile FD will try to update again on the next automatic update interval. Note the weather update status for information about the previous update.

You can trigger another update by tapping the Reload button.
If the connection error occurs again, an alert box will appear.

When looping through images, images older than two hours will not be displayed.
If the most recent image is older than 30 minutes, it is not displayed.

Surface Observations expire two hours after they are issued.
Expired Icing, Turbulence, and Winds Aloft

Expired forecasts do not display in Forecast popovers.

Access Route Airports

To access your terminal charts once you have created a route: Tap the Terminal Charts button.

To access your terminal charts once you have created a route: Tap the Terminal Charts button. The first time you access Terminal Charts view after creating a route, the view defaults to the origin airport and the Airport Diagram is displayed.

To access terminal charts for destination or alternate airports: 1. Tap the Airport button.

You can also select a chart for quick access. With the chart displayed: 1. Tap the chart group from which the chart belongs.

Terminal Chart Groups

Reference (REF) non-procedural charts, sorted alphabetically by title. Standard Terminal Arrival (STR) arrival charts, sorted alphabetically by title. Approach (APP) approach charts, organized by runway.
Taxi (TXI) - taxi charts, sorted by index number.

Standard Instrument Departure (SID) departure charts, sorted alphabetically by title.
Selected Charts
You can also select a chart for quick access. With the chart displayed: 1. Tap the chart group from which the chart belongs.

The next time you select that chart group for that airport, the Selected tab will display the last viewed selected chart.

Access Airports Without a Route

You can also access terminal charts for an airport without a route. 1. Tap the Airport button.

Tap in the Search field to access the keyboard and enter the ICAO identifier or city name.

If there are no charts available for a specific chart group, the chart group button is inactive. In this example, Reference charts are not available for this airport.

Highlight a Terminal Chart

To highlight your terminal chart: Tap the Highlight button. You are now in highlight mode and the Undo and Clear All tools display.

Rotate a Terminal Chart

To rotate your terminal chart clockwise 90 degrees: Tap the Rotate button.

To rotate your terminal chart clockwise 90 degrees: Tap the Rotate button.
Each time you tap the Rotate button rotates the chart another 90 degrees.

View Terminal Weather

METARs and TAFs are accessible in two areas in Jeppesen Mobile FD. In the: Enroute view through the Airport popovers. Terminal Charts view for the selected airport.

To view terminal weather from the Terminal Charts view: Tap the Wx button. Your preferred view of terminal weather, Raw or Decoded, is set in global settings. Note that METAR and TAF updates occur separately. If the weather data is expired, a weather warning displays in red in the same location as the weather age. The warning tells you how long ago the weather expired. METARs are not displayed 6 hours after issued. TAFs are not displayed 12 hours after issued.

After entering your FPO account information in global settings, the Import button appears in the Route Drawer. To import a plan from FPO: 1. Tap the Import button.

Viewing Company Manuals

If your company subscribes to Jeppesen Document Management Services, and you switched the global setting for the Company Manuals option to ON, the next time you launch Jeppesen Mobile FD, you will be asked to log in with your company credentials.

Tap the Username field to access the device keyboard and enter your username.
Tap the Password field and enter your password. Both the username and password are case sensitive.
