Company Information Our client is a Canadian integrated energy company - a leading position in oil sands, with complementary operations

in refining and marketing, North American natural gas production and conventional oil production internationally and offshore East Coast Canada. We are recruiting for a Reliability Engineer for a staff position located in beautiful British Columbia. In this position, the Reliability Engineer is responsible for providing direction and coordination for Engineering, Inspection and Maintenance staff and the associated activities at Burrard, Kamloops, Nanaimo and Terrace Terminals, ensuring a safe, reliable, environmentally sound and cost efficient operation. The incumbent also has responsibility for the effective management of maintenance programs and resources at Burrard through a close working relationship with the Burrard Coordinator, Inspection and Maintenance. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Ensure a high level of plant reliability and productivity by establishing and managing Engineering, Inspection and Maintenance programs and activities Develop and manage the completion of British Columbia Terminals Capital Work Program by implementing Authorization for Expenditures, managing design, procurement and construction of approved projects on time and within budget. This will involve working with numerous Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractors across B.C. Provide engineering assistance to departments through problem solving analysis, technical studies, cost estimates, shutdown co-ordination, contract engineering and supervision, while maintaining direct adherence to approved safety, environmental and Company practices and procedures Assist with development and management of Maintenance budget and activities at Burrard through the Coordinator, Inspection and Maintenance; ensuring high standards of equipment and mechanical reliability, establishing performance objectives, preventative and predictive maintenance programs for Upper, Middle and Lower Plants Provide direction and support for the B.C. terminal maintenance programs to meet legislative and Distribution maintenance requirements Provide direction in the development of ongoing inspection programs for Burrard Terminal ensuring reliability and operational integrity of equipment in compliance with legislated requirements and Company standards; provide inspection support for B.C. Terminals. Strive for equipment, vendor and contractor standardization across the terminal network Act as Company representative with governmental agencies on related matters; represent Terminals in developing Engineering Standards; responsible for the development and implementation of reliability programs, maintenance of contractors license Is the owner responsible for the Inspection and Quality Control Management program registered with the B.C. Safety Authority Act as alternate Incident Commander or Planning Section Chief at Burrard Product Terminal Emergency Response Team and as a member supporting Distribution emergency response activities within western Canada

Education and Experience:

Engineering Technology, Professional Engineer, or equivalent 8-12 years related experience

Skills and Knowledge:


Electrical, Civil and Mechanical technical skills are an asset to help resolve complex maintenance and operational issues The position requires significant knowledge of maintenance techniques and terminal operations. This includes recognizing and promoting maintenance best practices that meet Distribution, Health and Safety, or legislative requirements Knowledge of corporate Operational Excellence Management System objectives are essential to ensure safeguarding of personnel and assets Good communication skills are required to interface with terminal supervisors, operators, and contractors Strong organizational skills Understanding of computers and IS systems including SAP and SCADA systems Knowledge of Industry Standards and Codes - API, ASME, CCME, CGSB Knowledge of Federal/Provincial/Municipal Legislation impacting terminals Member of Incident Command Burrard Products Good computer skills in Microsoft Office and Outlook and SAP Planning skills regarding projects, budgets, inspection and engineering activities Broad understanding of all disciplines of Engineering Ability to intelligently discuss technical aspects of both Engineering and Inspection Must work as part of the Management Team, solving problems, making decisions, implementing Burrard action plans Good communication skills, both written and oral and capable of making presentations on a broad range of topics Process, inspection and maintenance knowledge Problem solving / decision-making skills Negotiation skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

The incumbent works in an office/plant, but is required to routinely inspect work that is underway at the B.C. Terminals, meeting with contractors on and off site, be present on start-up of new engineering projects and witness operating equipment that has malfunctioned or is considered unsafe During high activity times, the job is physically and mentally demanding Travel is a requirement; generally a few days per month As a member of the Emergency Response team, the incumbent may be called at any time to respond to an in-plant emergency
