cannot update BadgeMaker v4.30 - Are shown in the About box of BadgeMaker - Cannot be uninstalled! ________________________________________________________________________________ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------BadgeMaker ________________________________________________________________________________ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------Release : v5.9 Service Pack : 1 Date : 29-Sept-2002 Changed: ------As from this version, Key version 3 must be used! BadgeCreator and Database Layout Creator now have their own Key entry. This allows more control over the licenses. Added: ----A new Direct Source "TwainCrop" is added. This allows usages of a standard TWAIN imaging device to be cropped to 3 by 4 aspect ratio. It is also possible to load and crop an image from disc. It is possible to fit a PDF-BarCode in the defined rectangle. Added printers for Magnetic Encoding: Fargo Pro-LX "Pro-LX" DNP CX210 "CX210" Imagik CardStar CS300 "Imagik CS300" Fixes: ----Using Auto Update on Unique fields could cause duplicates without warning after changing DBLC settings. Now a warning will be shown. After creating a new project without a Primary Index, the sort column could not be set automatically. This caused errors (e.g. when printing selected records). This is changed so that the first column is set as the sort column. DAT-import will now ignore empty lines in the file, instead of creating empty records.

Importing a DAT-file without the 'Update' feature set would cause duplicates records. These records are now ignored. SendByMail used the actual image linked field. When this was not the primary index, the photo's could not be imported at the server side. Now the images are, for SendByMail, always exported as linked to the primary index. Using a static text in BadgeCreator, prefixed with double-quotes ("), BadgeMaker would show prefix it with @#@#. This is fixed. When the index was removed on the sort-by field, the 'red-arrow' was still set to this field but the records were not sorted. Now the primary index will be set as sort-by field. BadgeMaker would crash when a field, to which a image was linked, was removed. Now a warning is shown and BC-UNIQUE will be used. Old galleries could be displayed wrong. This is fixed. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v5.9 : 08-Apr-2002

Note: ----This full installation includes all 5.8 service packs! Added: ----The Gallery option has been extended with Header and Footer (see BadgeCreator) Import data does now also support CSV, TXT and TAB files including comma, dot-co mma and tab seperators. Fixes: ----Searching on a field with an index with special characters, like '', now also works when set to case-insensitive. When using BadgeMaker or DBLC for the first time on Windows 2000 or XP, File Ope n started on the desktop. This is changed to open the projects folder. Pressing the SendByMail button quickly multiple times could crash BadgeMaker. This has been fixed. Date checking sometimes approved a wrong date, causing a strange value in the database. The check is now more rigid. Using spaces in a character Primary Index could fool the uniqueness check, which resulted in duplicate records. The leading and trailing spaces are now removed. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release : v5.8 Service Pack : 4

Added: ----The following Fargo printers are now supported for Magnetic encoding: 1. C15 Card Printer 2. C25 Card Printer 3. DTC510_515 Card Printer Changes: ------The number of characters in a text item has been increased from 260 to 2000. Fixes: ----The new Pick List user interface did not allow an empty string. This is now allo wed. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Release : v5.8 Service Pack : 3 Date : 22-Jan-2002 Windows XP is now fully supported! Added: ----The user interface for defining a Pick List has been greatly improved It is now possible to set an image type as Black and White (signature), in DBLC. The threshold can be set via the system settings. It can be combined with the transparent setting in BC. It is now also possible to use JPG (non progressive), PCX, TGA and (some types o f) TIF as dynamic logo. The dat-import has been extended to import every supported image type. JPG-image s are just copied, other types are converted. When an image cannot not be read, it will be rejected without a message! Changes: ------When adding a record, after using Acquire (in the Add-dialog) the caption is changed to 'Edit Record' to indicate that the record was added. When using Acquire in the Add-dialog, and the project has only one image type, acquire is started immediately (instead of showing a menu with only one item). The fields for 'automatic import' can now be selected in the System|Settings, instead of showing the Select Fields dialog every time before importing.

Opening a project for the first time on a workstation would set the sort to the first column. This has been changed to the primary index column The minimum size of the text input boxes has been increased to prevent very smal l boxes. Fixes: ----A space before or after the text for the primary index, could cause the 'uniquecheck' to fail. This resulted in double records. This has been fixed. When using Acquire while adding a new record the image will now always be linked to the correct record. The SendByMail option now works with project names longer than 6 characters. Using Acquire while adding a new record the view is now refreshed correctly. Autoupdate with an random number could case a crash when the field size was too large. The random generator is now also working for fast batch operations (e.g. export) . When a record had no images, the active image type was not shown. The Date format setting switched between month name and number every time the dialog was opened. This has been fixed. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Release : v5.8 Service Pack : 2 Date : 27-Oct-2001 Added: ----Shortcut Key for adding records: Ctrl+A Fixes: ----Due to a change in release 5.7: Printing a selection, with one or more columns s et to 'Auto update before print', resulted in printing the same record for the numb er of selections (only when the cursor was on one of the selected records). Added: ----Magicard Rio & Tango printers are now also supported for Magnetic Encoding. Changed: ------Updated the demo database for the new ScreenCheck CD-Rom Fixed: ----'Auto update after print' was not working for Double Sided cards. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release : v5.7 Service Pack : Date : 03-Aug-2001 Added: ----The BadgeMaker 5000 without a dongle is changed to 'BadgeMaker Free Version'. Maximum number of records is increased to 100. A few options are disabled. The aboutbox is redesigned and contains hyperlinks for internet and e-mail. From this version Service Packs can be used to update BadgeMaker 5000 to the lat est version. The main version number (release) reflects the ScreenCheck BadgeMaker C D. With SendByMail it is now possible to automaticly deselect the exported records. This prevents the resent of records. An Acquire button is now in the toolbar. This will start the acquire action for the active image. The image name which is active is shown in the status bar and in the image window itself. Selecting multiple records with the shift-key and mouse can now also be 'down' to 'up'. Changed: ------When a project contains a field for Automatic Layout, and Automatic Layout is enabled in the system settings, the Badge Select combobox is disabled. This shows the user that the layout defined in the record is used. Minor changes in the User Interface like:

The name / desription in the Image windows are changed from 'inverting text' to a 'sunken' rectangle to enusre readability Language selection can now also be made by a double click. Fixed: ----Selecting a Twain source when running a non-english version of Windows 2000 or Millennium did not function. A manual action was needed. This is fixed. Acquiring or pasting an image with a color depth of 16 or 32 bits caused a crash in the third-party dll. This is solved by converting the image to 24 bits. When using a primary index with Filling set to ON, on a new record the index without the fill was checked for uniqueness. This could result in multiple records with equal indexes. The index is now first filled before the check. When opening/creating a project with many Images it could happen that some Image Windows were set outside the screen. BadgeMaker will now check the the screen-size and makes sure that all Image Windows are inside the visual part of the screen. After choosing 'select source' and 'DIRECT source' the <Cancel> action was not respected: the source would switch to DIRECT. This could cause aquire to fail. After selecting another language, the image fields were remove from the menu. This is fixed. With an empty database menu items Set Date Format and Show/Hide Image Window were disabled until a record was added. This is fixed. A few DataBase expressions were not functioning correctly. This is fixed. Automatic update did not always show the updated values. This is fixed. Note: When the database is sort by a field which is auto updated, the database is resorted after the update. As a result another record can receive the focus. When selecting multiple records with the shift-key and mouse, BadgeMaker would briefly show all selected images. This could take a lot of time. The images will not be shown anymore. When searching for a record which already had the cursor on it, resulted in a mismatch between the database and the view. Editing the record would show the first record in stead of the one under the cursor. Adjusting an image caused the 'autoupdate after image' to activate. This is suppressed now. When opening a project with read-only files (e.g. when copied from CD), or when the project has been moved to another directory, an unclear message would appear . The project & database files are now checked for write access and the messages are more clear. The progress dialog could not be canceled with the mouse. This is fixed. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.31 : 02-May-2001

Added: ----Multiline support Changed: ------Magnetic Encoding is now done in a seperate module. This is much more flexible. The order of BadgeItems, within the same layer, is now the same as BadgeCreator (that is the first item is behind the last item) fixed: ----The length of a number field can be set to 19 in DBLC. BadgeMaker did not suppor t this, and strange values were the result. Added: ----Images can now be adjusted in various ways! Changed: ------The 'sort-by' column is now remembered per user, on the local harddrive (desktop-file). Fixed: ----After selecting (tagging) a record (which was not the current), this became the current record without showing this on the screen. This gave problems with image operations. This is fixed by setting the cursor on this record. 'AutoUpdate on new record' gave problems when using Acquire in the Add Record dialog. The acquired image was lost, and the record number was reset to 0. This is fixed. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date Changed: ------: v4.20 : 19-Mar-2001

Moved the BadgeMaker release items as first item in this release notes file. Fixed: ----Using a project, with a counter as unique field, on multiple workstations at the same time, caused records with the same 'unique' number. This was caused by reading the startvalue only at loading of the project. This is changed so that multiple users can now create new records -at the same time-! It could happen that the start value of a counter field could not be read from t he BM-file. As a result the value was set to 0, which could cause un-unique numberi ng. BadgeMaker will now show an error message, and set the value to -1. When the first field was made invisible, BadgeMaker would crash at Edit Record. The Sort-By column was not handled correctly when opening the file. Both are corrected now. Importing dat-files caused problems when using Autoupdate with a counter in a character field. Loss of images and multiple records could be the result. This is fixed. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.19 : 27-Feb-2001

Added: ----Mail support: It is now possible to send data (dat-export) by e-mail to a remote server. This way cards can be printed by this server, so that you do not need a printer on every workstation. Fixed: ----Using the Search box to find a record could cause the view to loose some of all records, or even a database error message. Restarting BadgeMaker was needed to get all records back. Upon opening a BM file, backups are made of the BM file, the database file and the index file. So, if the user ever encounters trouble, one (or all) of the backup files can be restored. Changed: ------The database engine has been completely rebuild. This will assure compatibility with Windows 2000. A new help file system is used. The help file system is now based on WinHelp 2000. The internal program version has been raised from 1 to 2. This means that a key update is required to run the package. The demo database has changed completely to reflect the changes in the new release. More of the options are being used to better demonstrate what Badgemaker can do. Fixed: ----If you have selected to automatically update a field, you could give a start value and an add value. Unfortunately, it would always skip the first number (e.g., start value = 1, add value = 1 would lead to a record with value '2' in stead of '1' to start with). When declaring database fields with sizes larger than 50, you could get into trouble when adding or editing a record; the fields would stretch out beyond the screen. Now, the (visible) size is adapted to the screen resolution. Under rare circumstances it was possible that a field would not be updated when using default values in a pre-defined list. It could only happen when editing a new database field after you created a record with the old database structure. When opening a second project, the images (photos, signatures, ...) would not be updated correctly; a strange picture-in-picture effect would trash the image. Double-clicking a *.bm file in Windows Explorer would lead to problems with databases that contained more than 10 records. The reason was that Badgemaker mistakenly thought there was only a demo-license. The same held for drag-and-dropping *.bm files. The HASP key is now Windows 2000 compatible. Occasionally, an empty file could result when grabbing an image; this is now fixed. Upon closing a project, the list of badges available to the previous project would be visible. Now, the list is reset properly. The list of badges you can choose did not have a scrollbar. This meant that the list could grow beyond the screen size. Now, only 10 badges are visible. To see the other badges, you can use the scrollbar. When exporting data, deleted records would be exported as well. Only by re-indexing your database it was possible to get rid of those records. Now, they are skipped when exporting the database. When importing data, it could occur that you import a record that used to exist

(i.e., it was deleted). Since the newly imported record already existed (albeit in deleted form), the record would not be imported since it would then violate the unique constraint. Now, the old record is overwritten. Added: ----It is now possible to create an 'empty' entry in a pre-defined list. When the user chooses this 'empty' entry, the database field will remain empty. There is a new optimization features; it keeps the database clean by removing deleted records from the database. This happens automatically in the background. There is now a new feature that allows you to import and export data and images (in DAT format), which are compatible with the 32-bit Badgemaker 5500. Added magnetic encoding support for Magna Class printers. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.04 : 16-Dec-1999

Changed: ------A so-called 'auto import' feature is now built in. You can activate it by choosing 'enable automatic import' in the settings. When opening a project, a search starts for the file 'PROJECTNAME.DAT'. If found, an automatic import will commence. Fixed: ----The import and export functions are completely rewritten; they are now compatible with the 16-bit Badgemakers. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.03 : 22-Nov-1999

Changed: ------The default rights given to the various login levels (guest, user, power-user, administrator) were incorrect. Now they have been changed to be more logical. Before, you had to exit Badgemaker after changing the language. Now, language changing is done immediately. Encoding magnetic stripes using an Eltron printer sometimes failed on Windows 95/98. Now, the tracks are encoded properly. Fixed: ----When trying to find a record with the search option, it could happen that the text you typed was selected. If you would then continue typing, the previously typed character would sometimes disappear. The result was a wrong search string. The help file has been updated. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Release Date

: v4.02 : 28-Sep-1999

Fixed: ----When viewing the preview of the magnetic encoding on a badge, it would say 'Track 1' for all tracks. Now it (correctly) states 'Track 1', 'Track 2', and 'Track 3'. Images names to be loaded for the photo or signature could sometimes contain spaces behind them, so the images could not be found. When using a predefined list in combination with a 'view' style, the field was interpreted as having the 'edit' style. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.01 : 23-Aug-1999

As from this version, Key version 3 must be used! Images can only be linked to fields with the Unique property set. This property can not be removed as long as there is an image linked to it. Added: ----Added support for the German language. Fixed: ----Editing a project after conversion could lead to a mistaken path; the old path would be used. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.10 : 13-Jul-2000

Added: ----It is now possible to convert a project from Badgemaker 100 and Badgemaker 1500; previously you could only convert from Badgemaker 5000 16-bit. Changed: ------The database engine has been completely recompiled using the latest compiler. A new help file system is used. The help file system is now based on WinHelp 2000. The internal program version has been raised from 1 to 2. This means that a key update is required to run the package. It is no longer necessary to change the style (editable / viewable / invisible) of a database field through the menu; it is now included within the property settings of the field itself. It is no longer possible to use the 'Save As' option. 'Move project' should be used in stead. The re-index options have been removed; it is no longer necessary to manually re-index your database, since this is done automatically in the background.

Previously, it was possible to define a non-unique primary index. Now, if you set a field to be the primary index, it will automatically assume uniqueness. Fixed: ----When converting a project file from Badgemaker 5000-16, the Logging database was not converted. Now, the Logging database can be converted and then used in Badgemaker 5000-32. When changing the jpeg quality of the image, the spin buttons did not function logically. Now they have been reversed so they are more logical. Moving a project was not moving the images correctly. Now, all image types are moved with the project. When moving a project, it was possible that some logos (for instance dynamic logos) could not be found at their correct location. Now, all paths are searched to try and find the logo. When moving the project to another location, the old project could not be opened any more because the program thought the project was in use. If you don't have an *.mdx file (or when it is corrupt), then Database layout creator will automatically fix / create a new *.mdx. When converting a project file from Badgemaker 5000-16, the old project file would set the wrong open-count. This prevented the project from being able to open in Badgemaker 5000-16 after the conversion. When converting a project file from Badgemaker 5000-16, the photos and signatures would be simply copied to the new destination. Since the images weren't really JPG, but a close clone, the images could not be opened with every JPG supporting package. Now, the images are actually converted to the new(er) JPG style. All the short cuts have been checked and updated. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.04 : 16-Dec-1999

Changed: ------Changed to a newer compiler (Microsoft Visual C++ v6.0). When you add a new field, you will immediately be able to edit the properties. Before, you had to double click the newly added field.

Fixed: ----When editing the properties of a field, you can choose which way to sort the field (ascending / descending). Unfortunately, the field would be sorted exactly the other way around. When moving multiple projects, it could happen that already deleted old projects would be deleted again. When opening an old project file, I checked for the wrong value of the project. This made the program think it was a new project, instead of an old project. The help file has been updated. When using a project converted from Badgemaker 5000 16-bit where the photo was linked with a BC_UNIQUE_ field, a re-index could misplace the photos (pictures linked to the wrong records). ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.02 : 24-Sep-1999

Release Date

: v5.9.1 : 25-06-2002

The version number of BC will from now on run parallel with BadgeMaker. Some irregularities that occured while changing from one mode to the other, as well as changing mode or project through the recent file list have now been solv ed. On saving a file the application checks the read-only properties of the original file on disk. PDF barcodes can now be set to fill the rectangle in which they are drawn. MIFARE LAYOUT (5500 Only): It is now possible to bitencode database fields or functions. The user interface has been greatly enhanced to give full visual feedback to the user. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.19 : 01-03-2002

BADGE LAYOUT: The default character set is 'Default', and not 'ShiftJis' anymore. The default setting for Automatic Sizing (now 'on') can be changed through a new option in the System Settings Dialog on a new Tab ('General'). The User Interface when creating Picture Galleries has been enhanced by giving r ich graphical feedback to the user. It is now also possible to add a header or foote r to A4 or manual size Picture Galleries. 'Undo' functionality has been added. The user can undo the last action, unless he has saved the layout. It is possible to 'lock' the items on the badge, so they can not be moved with t he mouse or cursor keys. By using the Edit Dialog, however, they can still be resiz ed or repositioned. MIFARE LAYOUT (5500 Only): Card Serial Numbers can now be encoded in Binary format as well. Through the settings dialog, the user can enable the feature to allow database i tems to span more than one track.

The Preview pane at the bottom of the Add (edit) field or function dialog can no w be used to backselect and edit items. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date Changed: ------BADGE LAYOUT: In the System Settings dialog, a new option enables the user to set the default for autosizing for fixed items to on or off. Barcode with rotation 90 degrees now keeps user defined width and height when ot her items also occur on badge. When creating a new textitem, its default position of 10, 10 will now always be honored, and not be set to 10, 16. The selection and resizing of two items that overlap in part has now greatly bee n improved. For Dynamic Items, the user can now also set the option 'Word Wrap'. When Word W rap is on, this will be visualized in BC by multilining the text if spaces occur and if item length exceeds selection box length. BM will multiline the items depending on spaces in the source data. When closing a project file, any layout that was open will now disappear from th e screen and titlebar. CHIP LAYOUT: When the user attempts to save a chip layout while not having entered the Chip D ll name, he is now automatically presented with the "DLL Params" dialog. Selecting multiple images has been improved; selections can be made or undone wi thout holding the Control or Shift key. MIFARE LAYOUT: The user will now be shielded from combining character and numeric fields. When creating database updates using the LAST field in a table in which a TAG fi eld also occurs does not prevent the user from reopening the mifare file anymore. : v4.18 : 15-12-2001

Mifare: now binary items have a range that defaults to the end of a given track. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date Added: ----Mifare Encoding has been extended with functionality to encode the Mifare Application Directory (MAD) as well. Instead of one, it is now possible to choose from four different Magicard layout s. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.16 : 22-5-2001 : v4.17 : 9-10-2001

Changed: ------It is now possible to select all items on a given side of the badge by pressing 'Control A' or through the menu. The context menu now contains the entry 'Edit Item', which is enabled if exactly one item is selected. With static (fixed) text items, the user can now use hard returns by pressing Control-Enter. In addition, by checking 'Word Wrap', the user can resize an item on a badge, so long data is automatically multilined. These two options don't work together wit h rotated data, text clipping or autosizing. Added: ----It is now possible to add Ghost images through the advanced button in the Add/ Edit Image dialogue. A User Interface to generate Mifare Encoding information has been added. So far, support is available only for English and Dutch. Known problems: -------------When using rotated texts, With some fonts, the text is displayed on the badge using a different font than the one selected by the user. Usually, this does not affect the correct rendering in BadgeMaker. Depending on the platform being used (Windows 2000, ME etc.) text items might display the wrong font. The user can positively affect the rendering by setting 'Character Set' to Default. However, rotated texts (orientation set to a value other than 0) often do not display correctly.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date Added: ----*** Working with multiple items at once: It is now possible to make a selection of multiple items by holding the Controlkey while selecting items with the mous. These items can be moved, deleted or copied together, but resizing is disabled w hen more than one item is selected. The moving can be done with the mouse or arrow keys. Copying of one or multiple items can also be carried out to the other side of th e badge or to a different badge. NOTE: the windows clipboard is NOT used for this feature. As a result, you will not be able to copy items to other applications! With one item selected, you can use the TAB-key to select the next sequential it em, or SHIFT+TAB for the previous one. *** Display options: It is now possible to zoom out to factor 0.5. This can be useful for A4-sized la youts. The view-menu has been supplemented with two new items: Show whole badge: this blows up the badge to the maximum size that still fits wi thin the BadgeCreator window. 'Show Whole Badge' nullifies screen centering and sets the scrollbars back to zero. Center on Screen: this puts the badge in the middle of the screen. This option i s not available if your badge has its margins set to any value but zero. When reopening BadgeCreator in a second session, the left and top position as we ll as the window state of the previous session are remembered. Changed: ------The dialogues Edit Item and Edit badge have been harmonized. : v4.15 : 19-Mar-2001

The Edit boxes FontName, FontSize and FontStyle have been greyed to emphasize th e non-editability of these boxes. On the following dialogues, the tabs 'Position' and 'Data' have been swapped aro und to make for easier user interaction: Edit Item, Barcode, AsiNumber. On the following dialogues, the tab 'Data' appears first for new items, and 'Pos ition' for existing ones: BarCodeForm, frmAsiNumber On the dialogue 'Edit item', the tab 'Data' always appears first. In Options/System Settings, the options 'Show Grid' and 'Snap to Grid' are now f ully independent. When deleting items, the user is now asked for confirmation. When copying items on the same side of the badge, they are now pasted to the bot tomright of the current item. It has been made impossible to make items completely 'disappear' by moving them too far to the top or left. NOTE: with a very fast movement of the mouse, this is still possible, however. It is now possilble to enter negative values for the top and left position of it ems in the 'Edit Item' dialogue. In this way it is, however, again possible to make ite ms disappear. Internal changes have been made to optimize performance. Some captions for some languages have been changed to make for better comprehens ion. For new items: automatic sizing is now on by default, and the default layer is s et from 0 to 1. Fixed: ----Moving items with the arrow keys when 'Snap To Grid' is ON is now possible. Items can now be resized when 'Show To Grid' or 'Snap To Grid' is ON. When adding a new logo, it is now possible to change the scaling type without fi rst closing and reopening the dialogue box. The display of Arabic fonts in the preview pane of the 'Edit Item' dailogue as w ell as on the badge has been fixed. Before, no warning was given when the user tried to create the 100th item. This would lead

to a run-time error. Now a warning is given. The reference line now always spans the whole screen. With margins set, the reference line now stays at the user-defined position. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.14 : 13-Nov-2000

Changed: ------Bitmaps can now be sized between 0 to 999 mm, instead of 1 to 999 mm. Fixed: ----Margins did not work correctly with certain paper types. This is fixed. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.12 - v4.13 : 21-Sep-2000

Changed: ------Bumped the version. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.11 : 01-Aug-2000

Added: ------Added support for the German language. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.10 : 13-Jul-2000

Added: ----When you are in 'badge-mode' you can now in a single glance see if, and which, encode types you have added; they are displayed in the status bar. Objects can now be moved by using the cursor keys; the position of an object will alter exactly 1 mm. It is now possible to position the reference line by simply clicking on the horizontal or vertical ruler. Besides logos of type bitmap (*.bmp), it is now also possible to load logos of type jpeg (*.jpg). It is possible now to automatically size the selection box that is drawn around a text field.

Changed: ------From now on, the preview of the badge is 32-bit (= 4.294.967.296 colors). Previously, the preview was displayed in 8-bit (= 256 colors). The number of encode lines (chip / magnetic) has been increased from 50 to 100. If you choose a PDF barcode, then the height of the barcode is dependant on the width of the barcode. Now, the height is automatically adjusted when you change the width. When you select a logo from the standard logos directory, then Badgecreator will only save the filename. In this way, it will always look in the default logos directory (even if you copy the project to another location). The default Font base has changed from 1.5 mm to 0.0 mm. When adding a dynamic logo, you could get an error stating that the default logo (as defined in Database layout creator) does not exist. Now, when the default logo doesn't exist, it will simply fall back on the default logo. Fixed: ----Badgecreator would crash if a user scrolls all the way to the right or all the way to the bottom (using the scroll bars). Now, no such thing will happen. Choosing a 'printer font' would cause an error. Now, the printer font is mapped to 'Arial'. Choosing a font size of '0' would cause an error. Now, when the size has a minimum of '1'. If you supplied a non-existing file when either opening a BM file or a BC file, a run-time error would occur. Now you get a proper informative message. When changing the properties of a text object (dynamic or static) the size and the boldness of the object would not be properly shown in the example preview. An object could not be picked up anymore if it was too small. This was especially visible when trying to pick up a horizontal or vertical line. When clipping was on, only text items used to be cut down horizontally to the proper size. Now, also database field items are properly clipped. It was not possible to choose 'Save As' if the layout had not changed. Now, you can choose to save a badge under a different name at any time. Before, you just got a warning if you tried to save a badge under a different name (by using SaveAs'). Now, you will be automatically brought to the form where you can alter the name of the project. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date Changed: ------: v4.04 : 16-Dec-1999

Previously, the maximum size of a badge was 300 mm by 300 mm. Now, the maximum size has been increased to 999 mm by 999 mm. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.03 : 22-Nov-1999

Changed: ------Previously, it was only possible to encode an ISO-Numeric or an ISO-Character field on a magnetic stripe. Now, it is also possible to encode a Numeric field. Both in the edit menu and the options menu you could choose for the topic 'badge layout'. Now, the 'badge layout' in the options menu is renamed to the more appropriate 'Encode settings'. Fixed: ----When changing the language in Badgemaker, the language did not change accordingly in Badge layout creator. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.02 : 28-Sep-1999

Changed: ------Changed to a newer compiler (Microsoft Visual Basic v6.0). When you resize an object, you will no longer get annoying 'beeps'. When you edit a text object (either static or dynamic), you will automatically start with the 'data' tab, instead of the 'font' tab. Fixed: ----When you leave the width of a logo empty, BC would crash with a 'runtime 13' error. Now, leaving it empty will be interpreted as '0'. When you tried to open a badge that was created with a newer build of Badgecreator than the one you are opening it with, an error message would pop up. Now, Badgecreator checks whether the badge is of the same version (in stead of build). ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Release Date : v4.01 : 23-Aug-1999
