IFR Charts and Publications Introduction

As instrument pilots we need to know how to safely get from one place to another, in IFR we join highways in the sky to help keep clear of any obstacles and keep the process streamlined for ATC. To help navigate these highways and procedures when were near the airports, we use several different maps and publications. We must use maps and publications in order to safely navigate in instrument meteorological conditions, how will we use the visual way points from a sectional if we cant see the ground! objective: student will learn how to use the maps and terminal procedures to aid in navigating safely, the instructor will use cross country scenarios to introduce the publications and maps. at the end of the lesson the student should be able to correctly identify symbols and correctly use the FAA IAPs, DPs [SID, ODP], STARs, and Victor Low Enroute Charts practically

Student shall use prior knowledge and ask pertinent questions, display adquate knowledge of each chart as to progress to the next more complex scenario matter, observe the student in the discussion all the while asking questions to insure instruction effectiveness, if necessary add a third scenario from KEYW to KMIA to explain STARs or create a random scenario to help ensure understanding either with or without instructor help
