Effect of fabric cover factor and weave factor on the flammability characteristics of 100% cotton fabric.

Introduction
Fabrics flammability depends on various factors such raw material of fiber, its linear density, thread density, fabric construction, limiting oxygen index and humidity concentration in the environment, even on the weave type of fabric. In this project the influence of woven fabrics thread density and weave type upon flammability properties were investigated. Fabric woven from the 100% cotton spun yarns were used for investigations. The flammability properties of all tested fabrics are determined using Flammability tester for standard horizontal and vertical flammability test methods due to theirs similarity to fabric real flammability behavior. It has been found that fabric structure influenced on fabric hole burning time the hole burning time increases if density of yarns or weave factor increases, too.

Weave : Fabric are manufactured in wide varieties and design .And the different design and effect is produced on the fabric with the help for various mechanism which is helpful to from different weaves and lots of design which enhances the look of apparels. There are three types of basic weaves1.Plain 2.Twill 3.Satin/Sateen And the derivatives of basic weaves are used.

Cover Factor: It defined as area covered by the both warp and weft per unit area of surface of the fabric. The cover factor mainly depends upon the count of the yarn and density of the threads within a fabric. It cont contributes in the weight of the fabric. It can be calculated by the following formulaeK= K1+K2-(K1.K2/28) Where, K = cover factor of the fabric. K1 = Cover factor of the warp threads. K2 = Cover factor of the weft threads.

LITERATURE SURVEY
According to the author Julija Baltusnikaite, Regina Suminskiene, Rimvydas Milasius(1) concluded in their project that, the correlation between fabrics ignition time and its crack time was estimated. The crack of fabric appears with noise and it is more objective factor than ignition time. Threads density and weave factor strightly influence fabrics flammability. When the density and weave factor increases, i.e. length of float increases, the flammability decreases. Thought fabrics burning process depends upon its density and weave type, the integrated firmness factor cant be used for the fabric flammability forecasting. Weak correlation between the fabrics crack time and its air permeability confirms that.
