Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Living Faith in February: Luke 4:21-30 Be my rock of refuge, a stronghold to give me safety, for you are my rock and my fortress. (Ps. 71) Is God your rock and fortress, or do you place your trust in things of the world? Reflect on a time when you gave or received prophetic advice. Were you or the other person open to the advice as a gift from God, or did you resist the message? How do you live the cardinal virtues in your life faith, hope, and love?

318 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week. The purpose of the Holy Hour is to encourage a deep personal encounter with Christ. The holy and glorious God is constantly inviting us to come to Him, to converse with Him, to ask for such things as we need and to experience what a blessing there is in fellowship with Him. (Archbishop Fulton J Sheen) Now is the time to begin a deeper encounter with Jesus. Please call Judy Soltis at 330212-0926. (Insert Graphic 1401-0006.tif) My Dear Parishioners: Due to the extraordinary number of local requests to our St. Vincent de Paul Society this year, rather than a Lenten Alms giving for Heifer International, our Lenten Alms giving will go toward the support of our St. Vincent de Paul Society. One hundred percent of your donation will go toward the aid of the poor in the Barberton and Norton area. I am setting a goal of $5,000, the same amount as an Ark for Heifer International. I ask that you please be generous in helping us reach our goal for the benefit of St. Vincent de Paul and the poor of Barberton and Norton. We will begin our collection on Ash Wednesday, February 13. Christs Peace! Fr. David Majikas (Insert Graphic 2404-0062.tif) Coffee and Donuts will be served today in the cafeteria. Take this opportunity to share your week with fellow parishioners while enjoying a sweet treat.

FEBRUARY 27 LENT 2013 BUS TRIP: Our trip this year includes stops at St. Bridget
of Kildare Church (Fr. Rob Wisniewski's parish), St. Bartholomew, St. Joseph and Mary Queen of Peace. Mass will be celebrated. Lunch will be a buffet at Stancato's Italian Restaurant. The day will conclude with a stop at Strongsville's SouthPark Mall - a little more upscale than Summit Mall but with interesting shops, better stocked stores, etc. We will depart from the Magic City parking lot at 9:00 am and return around 5:00-5:30 pm. The cost of $16 (!) includes the bus, driver's tip, snack, and stipends to the churches visited. NOTE: Lunch is not included in the cost. The buffet cost is $7.99; drinks are $2-2.50; and, of course, a gratuity ($3?). Please join us as we "explore" various Catholic churches, enjoy table fellowship, and perhaps buy a new Easter bonnet! Call the Rectory (330745-0011) to make reservations by February 10. Invite a friend to share the day with you! Mens Fellowship will meet Saturday, February 9 in the School Cafeteria from 7-8:25am. Please consider a generous gift to the Catholic Charities 2013 Annual Appeal, and please pray for the success of this important Appeal. Come and See - Tuesday, February 5 Sister Mary Ann Wiesemann-Mills, OP, will reflect on Becoming Blessings for the World at 7:00p.m. at Blessed Trinity Church (formerly St. Martha) in Akron. Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday

World Day for Consecrated Life This Sunday we celebrate World Day for Consecrated Life. We recognize and give thanks for those who have consecrated their lives to God and the Church through the vows of poverty, chasity, and obedience. The consecrated life is one way that women and men live out their baptismal commitment as followers of Jesus. We pray for those who are priests or sisters and ask God to bless our church with others who will dedicate their lives to Gods service. Next week we will take up the Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe. This Collection supports Catholic organizations that provide affordable shelter and train seminarians in a region still struggling in the aftermath of atheistic Soviet rule. By providing pastoral care, catechesis, and aid, your donations help restore the strength of the Church in the region. Please give generously to the Collection next week. Visit www.usccb.org (search Church in Central and Eastern Europe) to learn more. Join us as we journey through Catholicism Thursday, February 7 as we discover Amazed and Afraid Pt, 1, The Revelation of God Become Man. Registration forms are available on the bookrack. Sessions will be held at Immaculate Conception Church Waldeisen Hall from 6:00-9:00pm. Enjoy a meal from 6:00-6:30pm followed by the session. All are welcome to attend. Why a Holy Hour? Until we have a passionate love for our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament we shall accomplish nothing. (St. Peter Julian Eymard)
