Democracy the best political regime

In my opinion, the best and most expanded political regime is the democratic one. The term "democracy" first appeared in ancient Greek political and philosophical thought in the citystate of Athens, which means that the power it is held by the people. Nowadays, it is defined as a form of government in which all eligible citizens have an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives. Therefore, equality and freedom had been identified as important characteristics of democracy since ancient times. Firstly, democracy is te best regime because requires three fundamental principles: upward control which means that sovereignty residing at the lowest levels of authority, political equality, and social norms by which individuals and institutions only consider acceptable acts that reflect the first two principles of upward control and political equality. These principles are reflected in all eligible citizens being equal before the law and having equal access to legislative processes. In a representative democracy, every vote has equal weight, no unreasonable restrictions can apply to anyone seeking to become a representative, and the freedom of its eligible citizens is secured by legitimized rights and liberties which are generally protected by a constitution. For instance, Romania country has a Constitution since 1886, even if had suffered some changes until now, because it is the basic, fundamental law of a state which sets out how that state will be organized and the powers and authorities of government between different political units and citizens.

Secondly, this regime is the most expanded because it had from the beginning a great development regarding all the domains : political , social, economical or educational. Therefore, the Eastern Europe, where communism was imposed, had adopted this type of regime in order to prosper and to be at the same level with the Western Europe. For example, in Romania, during the communism period, people had no freedom to travel or to make friends abroad, they were not allowed to know the problems of the country, they couldnt even learn too many foreign languages. Fortunately, in present, we are free to do whatever we want , but respecting the laws, thanks to the democratic regime that protects our rights but at the same time imposes some rules.

In conlusion , I consider democracy the best political regime and the expanded one for what I had just exemplified above , and not only I have this conviction, but the History is the one that had proved this thing, that it is better for people to be equal , to be free and to live in peace, otherwise we would be all the time in a war or a fight that brings no benefits, only disaster and horror.
