III. INITIAL DATA BASE

A. Family structure, characteristics and dynamics The Gardon family resides at 111, Garden Medium Rice Dela Paz St. Mandaluyong Blk 4. room 7,Phase 5 Brgy. Dela Paz . They are a nuclear type of family that has five members and all are Roman Catholic. The head of the family is Mr. _____. (___ years old) together with his wife Mrs. A.G. (40 years old) and both of them were not able to pursue in high school. They have 3 children studying one in high school and two in elementary near them. The oldest is studying college. Mr. and Mrs. G. originated from Bicol but tagalog is the primary dialect spoken of the family since they live in Brgy. Dela Paz. And the head of the family was the only one whos working for the family as a shoe cleaner but they was only sustented. Mrs. A was 8 months pregnant,__ AOG and expected to deliver on __.

B. Socio-economic and cultural characteristics Regarding with their socio-economic aspect, the family salary as a shoe cleaner approximately 1000 monthly. The sum of their income will be divided for their expenses such as 1.food, 2. Education, 3. Utilities (rent/other bill), 4. health and others. The one who makes decision with their money is their mother. In terms of relationship of them with their community They dont attend on community meeting or assemblies because they say that they have no time for that.

C. Home and Environment Under environmental factors, their house is a room which measures 4 square meters. that is inadequate space for five of them and it is not well ventilated because their home has only one window for the air to come in. As I assess the pregnant mother, I saw that the place is not well organized and the family has no cabinets for food storage. They cook food with charcoal. The water they drink is tap water. Their toilet is a community toilet, it is de-buhos and in front of the public is full of stagnant water. They make use of plastics or sacks for their trash, and according to them it was collected by a track every wednesday. The drainage is close and the water flows freely. They have no garden and stray pets. There kitchen and sala are one who serves also as gate for visitors.

D. Health status of each family member As for the Past illness of the family include tonsillitis, typhoid fever, diarrhea, cough and colds.They have enough time of sleep and eat three times a day. They primarily eat rice, vegetables, fish, meat, and fruits. and sometimes their oldest daughter skips breakfast at the morning and goes to school without eating anything. The drink alcoholic drinks occasionally and no family members smoke.
