Greenfield Center School will host an admissions open house and live birds of prey program on Sunday, February 3rd. Nationally known raptor rehabilitator Tom Ricardi will bring several magnificent birds of prey to the school and will deliver a riveting program on them from 1-2pm. After the program, from 2-4pm, each Center School classroom will have bird-related activities, projects and explorations for students of all ages. Tom Ricardi's birds of prey presentation brings participants up close to owls, hawk, eagle, falcon and more. In classrooms, after the presentation, participants can dissect pellets to find bones of the owls' prey, make bird feeders, paint bird portraits, make masks and create nests. Prospective parents will have an opportunity to meet Center School teachers, parents and students. Refreshments will be served. This is a wonderful opportunity to see what the Greenfield Center School is all about. Lance Ingmire is president of the NYS Military Museum, past president of the Friends of US Grant Cottage, and NYS Chair of the Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee. He teaches and demonstrates the Civil War era. He is also the organizer of the Saratoga Springs Civil War Living History Encampment and speaks on Civil War research. This talk is a tale of one man's obsessive research on the Ingmire family of England and Albany and his family's connection to our greatest president. Lance Ingmire will explain his research techniques and the long trail he took to uncover
the numerous interesting Albany connections to our 19th century history. Many of his ancestors photographs which will be displayed have not seen the light of day for nearly 150 years and this talk will be a once in a lifetime chance to witness history unfold before your eyes, while the tale of a family history is explained. He will also show some artifacts from the Civil War period.
