Help! Help! Help me please! Im asking for everyones help. I am grasping for my breath due to pollution caused by you. Im a paradise to be described wherein every living body lives peacefully and safely rich in all the resources needed for everyone to survive.
I am an archipelago comprising of 7, 107 islands poured onto heaven by the creator, our God. Im a paradise rich with all resources. I had an amazing biodiversity which is the measure of variation of life form within the planet, which determines how healthy my ecosystem really is. I had a healthy biodiversity, wealthy with life and endemic species like perhaps the Northern Luzon Giant Cloud Rat (Phloeomys pallidus) which is the largest endemic rat located in the Philippines weighing up to 2.5 kilos that nest in hallow trees. Large Flying Fox (Pteropus vampyrus) can also be seen within my vicinity which is the largest fruit bat in the world having a wingspan of nearly 6 ft or 1.7m and weighing 1.5 kg. The smallest deer can be located within my boundaries this is the Palawan Mouse Deer (Tragulus napu) which could only be seen in Palawan. The famous Giant Clam (Tridacna gigas) could be found underneath my ocean which is the largest and heaviest mollusc in the world and the Mangkono or Philippine Ironwood (Xanthostemon verdugonianus) which is the hardest tree could be found within my forest and many more. I have a mountainous islands covered by rainforest having a healthy ecosystem where plants, trees and animals of different species live peacefully and safely. I have rivers, ocean, lakes and every bodies of water clean and full of life where fishes swam safely, free from toxic and threat of pollution. The Pasig River then was clean and reached with the fresh water animals and such no floating garbage could be found. Farmers have a bounty harvest of healthy grains of rice. They reap healthy cabbages, beans and other vegetables from their farms. Fruit trees farms have a bounty season of harvest. The fisherman catches more fish of good condition. Tilapia, Bangus, Eel and other marine animals are freely available in the river and other bodies of water. In my ocean, marine animals live in healthy coral reefs. Water was clean and no floating garbage could be found. Fishes swam happily onto ocean. Colorful corals grow under water. Fishes of different colors and kind swam lively onto ocean living peacefully in a healthy ecosystem. Birds freely flew in the sky. Air was fresh and clean. Life before is really free from harm. The world is a paradise to be described with its beauty that catches the eyes of every person. Stop! Look! Listen! Wala ka bang napapansin sa ating kapaligiran? Kay dumi na ng hangin pati na ang mga ilog natin. Listen to me singing this song that perfectly fits my agony. Before and now I am really different for many changes continually growing and improving. Before I am really clean and beautiful reached with plants, trees and animals living together peacefully in a healthy biodiversity. During the industrial revolution, my agony had begun. Pollution has continually corrupting my beauty. Forested areas now are not that healthy like before. Mountains are continually being deforested. Biodiversity has changed. Air, water and land are continually being polluted by man. Companies used machineries that burn fuel and contribute to the emission of harmful gases in the atmosphere. Factories released harmful chemicals in the river bank and other bodies of the water. Man invented air conditioning units that contribute to the emission of greenhouse gases that contributes to the increasing amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere. Air freshener emits gases that contribute to such increase in the GHG.

Cars for easy transportation burn diesel and gasoline and such burning cause release of GHG. Using your computer consumes electricity and such consumption also emitted such gases. Green house gases are the heat-trapping gases naturally existing in the atmosphere. These green house gases enclose the heat coming in from the sun to keep Earth warm. This process of absorption and emission of infrared radiation coming in from the sun by these GHG to keep the Earths lower atmosphere and surface warm suitable for all the living bodies to survive is called greenhouse effect. These naturally existing greenhouse gases have denoted warming effect of about 33 C (59 F). These Greenhouse Gases present in the atmosphere comprises of the water vapor which is an invisible gases of water in the atmosphere, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane gas (CH4), chlorofluorocarbon (CFC), ammonia, nitrous oxide (N20) and other gases generated during industrial processes. Water vapor causes about 36- 70% of the greenhouse effect. Carbon dioxide (CO2) causes 926% while methane (CH4) causes 4 9%. Ozone (O3) causes 37% of the greenhouse effect. Clouds also affecting the radiation balance through cloud forcings similar to greenhouse gases wherein it traps the heat coming from the rays of the sun. Starting from the Industrial Revolution, emission of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is continually increasing. The Earth is getting hotter and hotter as the time passed by due to the negligence of mankind and the greediness of them to attain profit and wealth. Our nature is being abused by all humans. Greenhouse gases that are essential to keep the world warm is now a problem. The rapidly increasing of greenhouse gases keeps the world hotter and hotter as the days passed by as a result of the negligence of man. This is what we call Climate Change also known as the Global Warming. Climate change is the change in climate directly or indirectly attributed to human activities which alter the composition of global atmosphere in addition to natural variability in climate over a comparable period of time. Global warming is the result of the carelessness of man together with the natural occurring factors contributing to the continuing emission of these heat-trapping gases such as volcanic eruption. Burning of greater quantity of oil, gasoline and coal contribute to the increase of GHG in the atmosphere. Burning of plastics and garbage emits noxious gases in the atmosphere. In addition this, burning plastics contributes to the depletion of our ozone layer that serves as our shield from the utra violet rays coming from the sun. Illegal logging, rampant mining also make my situation worst- my agony. Mining of minerals like gold, copper and other naturally found underneath my surface causes the release of toxic produced during the operation of the mine. These toxic where being deposited in the river and other bodies of water are contaminating it. Mining creates hole underneath that might caused landslide during rainy seasons. Trees were being cut with the areas. The soil was being polluted due to chemicals produced during its operation. Illegal logging is the never ending problem of cutting down trees in my forest. Trees and plants are really important in your lives. They helped absorbed gases like carbon dioxide which is one of the compositions of the GHG in the atmosphere as they used it in the production of their foods through photosynthesis. They helped in controlling the amount of these gases in the atmosphere. In addition, trees absorb water pouring from heaven preventing floods to occur. Their roots hold the soil preventing landslide and mudslide. They serve as the shelter for all the animals living within my jurisdiction. Before, I have 70 percent land areas covered with forests , now, these forested areas decline due to massive cuttings of trees starting when Americans introduced to the local residents of the Philippines how to generate profit out of trees through exportation of timber and wood products making logging of trees an industry for profitability. As you cut down trees, large area will be uncovered with trees enabling large scale of soil erosion to happen, landslide, mudslide and flooding. This soil erosion will further result to river siltation, clogged irrigation systems, sediment deposits that shorten the life span of the dams where we get our water distributed to pipe lines all over the Philippines. Cutting down of trees in the forest lessen the chance to control the increasing amount of GHG in the atmosphere. As trees in the forest being cut down, large scale of the forested surface will collapse resulting to landslide due to heavy rains for their roots hold the soil preventing such occurrence to happen. The used of fertilizers in farming contributed in the increase of such gases in the atmosphere. The soil became acidic due to the chemicals contained in that fertilizers making my healthy land unsuitable for planting vegetables and crops. You keep on the throwing garbage in my rivers causing the clogging in the drainage and river banks hindering the free flow of waters. Plastics releases toxic that is harmful for fishes and all marine lives in all the bodies of water causing their death. Destructive fishing such as the dynamite and cyanide fishing destroy the coral reefs and kills young fishes. Corals are being sold in the market destroying the habitat of marine life. Im grasping for my breath! Help me please!

Im completely being continually corrupted. My beauty has lessened. Forest is no longer that healthy. Rivers is like chocolates in color where floating garbage dominated the existence of fishes. Can you see what have you done to me? Despite of all the benefits I am giving you, providing you all you need-foods, shelter, water, this is what you will give me back? Please, youre not blind to see me suffering. Youre not deaf to hear me crying. Earth, the only planet in the universe where living bodies can survive you must not waste the opportunity to live. I had the beauty before that attracts Spaniards to conquer me. I had the splendor that catches the eye of every foreign person but due to your greediness my loveliness has lessen and continually will. Dreaming for a wealthy life is not that bad as long as you are responsible for every action youve made. Advancement in the technology really helps a lot making life more comfortable than before that with just one click doors open, hot water pours, food instantly being cooked. Less effort of man is being consumed a day beneficial for the busy schedule of earning money. Ang mga batang ngayon lang isinilang may hangin pa kayang matitikman? May mga puno pa kaya silang aakyatin may mga ilog pa kayang lalanguyan? Hear me continually singing. Im afraid, so afraid. If this destruction continually occurring what will be happen to those new generation to come? Will these new generation see the beauty you have witness. Will they be experiencing to climb on the branches of my tree? Will they be seeing flock of birds flying?
