Hi Santz, USE the steps below to start it automatically. 1. Create notepad file sapstart.txt and past the following line of command in it. sapstart pf=\\minisap\sapmnt\nsp\sys\profile\DEFAULT.PFL SAPDIAHOST=minisap NOTE: minisap is my HOSTNAME, Replace with your if different. 2. Save and Rename this file from sapstart.txt to sapstart.bat 3. Place this file to the following path of start menu Start => All Programs => Startup => sapstart.bat Now Restart your windows this time your sap system will start automatically. Please Reply in case of any Issue. Thanks and Regards, Faisal

Hi Altaf, Thanks for the reply. I Found another solution, from startsap as a windows service, just add "Autostart = 1" (case sensitive) to your START profile. Tks, Cleber Santz.

Hi Faisal, I really appreciate the detailed blog with all the pictures and step-by-step guidance. I followed your recommendation to install the Virtual Box running XP. However, I have in issue after the 13. step, license agreement. The installation is requesting to provide an DNS Domain name - where do I get this name, or how can I avoid this request? Thanks a lot in advance! Georg

Hello, The trial version can be installed only in 32-bit Operating system. So, just check whether your OS is 32-bit. There is also 64 bit version of this software available this website i.e. for Windows 7 system. Regards, M M Jaffer.

Hi Aisurya, All Setup files must be inside your Virtual Machine, In fact I didn't tried to install in VMWare but I often install inside Virtual Box so I suggest you to download Virtual Box and try with it, for more details you can see my other blog, link is available on the top of this blog. In that blog I have explained how to work with Virtual Box. Please Reply in case of any confusion. Thanks and Best Regards, Faisal

Hi Faizal, Thanks for the very informative instructions with screen shots. I am currently using 7.01 version but would like to get the EhP7.02 version discussed in this blog, given the vast improvements available in EhP7.02. During my installation of Version 7.01, there were alerts for the set up of FQDN(Fully Qualified Domain Name). I wasnt sure of this step but did something to get over this step. While the installation was successful, this affected, the way WebDynPro programs are run from my Trial System. The URLs generated by my WDApplications needed to be changed to point to 'localhost:8080' where it contained my SAP system name. Until today, this remains an annoying manual step before running a WebDynPro Application from my SAP System. I found no mention about FQDN in your blog. Is it not needed in EhP7.02.(I doubt). If you could clarify about setting up of the FQDN such that the default URL generated by WebDynPro Applications are readily run on web browser, that would be great. I also would like to know how to remote enable the Trial Version System, so that I can login to the test System from a remote location. I am sure a lot of SDN guys would find this feature quite handy.(I have tried LogMeIn, GoToMyPC,Ammyy etc. I am referring to the ability to direct remote login to SAP Trial System ..! Looking forward to your answers. Thanks once again for the great blog. Cheers

Hi Faisal, You are a legend mate ..! That link was spot on. Now onwards, everytime i work on WDA in my home system, you would come to my memory .. .
Your doco has been there since Jan 2011. But despite my search, I could not locate it within SDN.This document is as important as the instal media itself for those aspiring for a WDA enabled Trial system. What SAP should have done, you have done, in compiling this info. SAP should prominently link to your doco in their download page where they placed the Instal media. Such a complex task requiring varied skills in a few domains within IT. Cant thank you enough. One suggestion though. The config step in host file after the RZ10 profile param create step (Page17 in your document). That instruction I thought is not clear, given the clarity seen elsewhere in the doc. My installation is called, sree.com the equivalent of minisap.com, in your doc. This is required to be against the IP 127.0.0.1. The IP starting with 192.168.... is that of saptranshost and should not be tampered with? If I exactly followed your screen shot, it did not work. When i tweaked my WDA url as localhost, as I always kept doing until now, it worked. So I went back to the host file and changed the 127.0.0.1 entry as sree.com, it worked. Is this an error in your instruction on Page17? You may want to review your document or perhaps its just to do with my understanding ..? I am all good with my Trial System and it works like a song. Brilliant. Any pointers on making this Trial Version installation remote enabled. For example, I add an entry in my office SAPLogon Pad pointing to my home system. If my homesystem is up and running, I can connect to my home system from workplace ...! Also,is it possible to make WDAs to open in Chrome by default. If this is not possible, given SAP does not support Chrome, Safari & Opera, how to set Firefox as the default browser for WDA? Thanks heaps Faisal, once again. Best Regards.

Hi Guppeey, 1. I think you have install the loopback adopter which is having IP Address 127.0.0.1 ? In my case my ABAP Server was on network and its IP was 192.168... so I did the second entry. I think you better the leave the first line as it is and do new entry like below. 127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 localhost sree.com
Hope this will work as well. on more thing in this case if you will replace sree.com with localhost manually and past in browser it should work. 2. For direct access from your office you need to have a live IP for your server, in this way you will be able to connect your server from office using SAP GUI giving that IP. In this case for running web dynpro from your office you will have to do the entry in hosts file of your office system using that IP. 3. Set any other browser as Default, hope system will open web dynpro in it. Hope you got all my points, please reply if any thing not clear, Thanks and Best Regards, Faisal

Yes I have MS Loopback Adaptor, Faisal. This very question almost answered my query on remote enabling. And your second para clarifies the missing bits about it. Given I have installed loop back adaptor, I guess the current installation cannot be remote enabled? By live IP you must be meaning a fixed IP (as opposed to a ISP supplied DHCP that keep changing the IP address at every connect to the net) So to round up your clarification to my query on remote enabling, is it right to say, 1. loop back adaptor should not be installed, 2. Obtain a fixed IP(is it called a Live IP?) from my ISP. 3. install SAP(without the MS loop back adaptor) and 4. Configure the host file with this fixed IP/Live IP. This would make any Logon Pad entry pointing to the above fixed IP from any internet enabled computer, hook onto my trial system. Please correct me if I am wrong. As to changing the default browser, guess WDA is set to automatically open ONLY in IE. To quote Thomas Jung in this SCN thread "this is a little more complicated than just asking the OS to launch the default browser." Given it is not a showstopper, I would give up harping anymore about it. I am all good and thanks for the great blog, and mentoring replies. By the way, my host file config looks like the below: 127.0.0.1 sree.com 192.168.X.X saptranshost Best regards.

Hi Guppeey, 1. If you have installed loop back adopter you can just disable it and plugin the Network cable. 2. No need to do installation again. 3. Live or Public IP is a Static address which will be unique on all over internet. you can get it from your ISP. Please Reply if any thing not clear.
