Accountant Finance & Administration Job Grade E9; Exempt; Part-time Starting Salary Range: $28,904- $32,500/year DOE

+benefits (Posted 1/18/13) This is a lead accountant position that prepares and maintains the organizations automated general ledger, fixed assets subsidiary ledgers, and other accounting records. The position also coordinates the annual audit, prepares the organizations monthly financial statements and special financial analysis reports. This position is a part time position, will work 20 hours/week and reports to the Controller. Job Summary: Under supervision, responsible for assisting in the day-to-day maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and preparing basic financial reports in accordance with GAAP. Prepare special Lawyers Fund for Client Protection financial statements and other financial summary or analysis reports as needed. Prepare basic journal entries and consult with others about the appropriate accounting treatment of transactions, establish chart of accounts, and account for departmental revenue and expense items. Prepare and review month-end journal entries, ensure an accurate and timely monthly-end and year-end close, ensure the timely reporting of all monthly and yearly financial information, and coordinate WSBAs annual external independent audit. Accurately maintain accounting and fixed asset records, record fixed asset transactions, including set-up of capital projects, and prepare supporting project documentation to ensure accuracy of depreciation and amortization expenses. Work with IT Department to set up and properly account for Capital Labor projects. Compile accounting data and assist the Controller in performing fiscal analysis and forecasting as needed. Requirements: Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent work experience. Experience as a controller, accountant, or auditor; experience with general ledger and financial statements; strong proficiency using accounting software and Excel to facilitate analysis and reporting. Must possess strong written and oral communication skills along with the ability to foster good working relationships; very strong analytical and problem solving skills along with ability to make well informed decisions. This position is a part time position and will work 20 hours/week. The position reports to the Controller. Job Summary: Set up new user and supervisory profiles in the timesheet application. Assist employees and managers with questions related to new users, navigating the application, password resets, and leave accruals. Also maintain records for active and separated employees. Working with the Controller and HR to process semi monthly payroll: Collect, track, verify and ensure various changes to employee status, pay, benefit elections/coverage changes, direct deposit authorizations, and related items are included in each payroll. Enter, track, and reconcile monthly health insurance elections/changes in payroll system and the Health Care Authority benefit database. Prepare journal entries and retirement benefit reports for each payroll.

Prepare quarterly leave accrual reports, process annual sick leave conversion, and process any out-of-the-ordinary out of sequence payrolls as they arise. Issue manual checks as needed.

Requirements: Associates degree in Business or equivalent work experience. Experience in payroll processing; proficiency using payroll software and/or databases demonstrating accurate data entry, analytical ability, problem solving, and investigative skills.
