JOB PORTAL FOR SPC, DAIICT

1.

Overview:
1.1. Requestor: Our project focuses to deliver the needs and requirements of the Placement Cell of DA-IICT. The Need: The placement cell of Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT) provides an overview of the recruitment policy, the demographics of students opting for different electives in past years, program-wise enrolled students, list of past recruiters, past recruitment statistics, resume and achievement of students and the overview of programs offered in DA-IICT. In addition to this, it provides a section where interested companies for recruitment process at DA-IICT, can fill in the details by simply filling a form and specifying the domain. Despite these services, it lacks to fulfil basic requirements in some fields. Our agenda is creating a JOB-PORTAL, a separate section for the website of SPC. This doesnt exclude any features which are currently present, it merely provides an extension to that. Student committee needs a platform for discussing issues related to the internship, past requirements of companies and suggestions from the faculty and alumni. This portal is also aimed at lightening up the burden from the SPC.

Project Description:
2.1. Project Functionalities: We will create a platform, where alumni of the institute, the faculty, SPC and the current students will be able to notify about the recent job/internship openings in the industry. This portal will provide a discussion forum where registered users can interact with each other. Based on their interest, registered users can subscribe to certain fields or companies and they will be mailed the regular updates pertaining to them. The user will also be able to provide tips and reviews about different companies. The users can seek or provide references for job or internships, as per their requirement.

Challenges and assumptions:

5.1 Challenges: Most of the team members have three to four projects as a part of their courses. So time management is a crucial issue. As all the team members do not have required technical skills, they will have to learn it to contribute equally. 5.2 Assumptions: The SPC will serve as administrator and will make sure that there is no privacy infiltration. There will be good participation from all users specifically faculty and alumni

6.

Planning and Strategy:

For knowing the requirements and the problems faced by the placement cell, we had a short meeting with the SPC convener and were able to come up with the basic idea and the requirements in this field. We will be contacting some of the alumni to gather their suggestions leading to the betterment of our project. We will conduct a survey of students to know their opinion about the portal. As per the requirements gathered during the requirement analysis phase, our team will propose a proper design of the project and this will serve as a guide as to what content will be on the website. We have planned to conduct group meeting twice a week and as requirement arises. The documentation will be updated continuously. A review team will be formed which will review each module and phase.
