Welcome to Worship
elcome to New Hope Church, now into our third century serving God! If you are visiting, you will discover a loving, spirit-filled church family. Here is some helpful information as you join us in worship today: All who worship here are equals in the sight of God, regardless of race, age, gender, physical disability or religious affiliation. Communion, when celebrated, is open to all who profess Christ as Lord and Savior, whether affiliated with this church or not. Children may partake of Communion as well, if parents approve. A nursery is available during the service; please see a greeter for directions. (This is for infants and children up to 3 years of age.) Handicap-accessible restrooms are located off the narthex (main foyer) and adjacent to the entrance lobby in the Fellowship Hall/Gym. Please complete the tear-off attendance slip attached to the bulletin and drop it in the offering plate so we will have a record of your visit with us today. Thank you for remembering to silence your cell phone during the service. No food or beverages in the sanctuary, please. If you arrived as a visitor we hope that you leave as a friend and worship with us often! New Hope Church exists to: Glorify God in worship and rejoice in our life together; Share the Good News of the Gospel in word and deed; Reach as many as we can with the saving love of Jesus; Help each person grow toward Christian maturity, and find their place of service in the church and in the world.

The New Hope Food Pantry Canned goods, non-perishables and dry goods work best. We can use cereals, if we can get them turned out quickly. Take whatever you bring to the kitchen. Please see Evelyn Price or the Pastor if you know anyone inside or outside the church that has a need. New Rotation Sunday School Series The C.I.A. (Christian Intelligence Agency) is beginning a new study about Heaven using the story of Colton Burpo, who after a near death experience at age 4 was able to describe what Heaven looks like to his parents. We will have an 11-week study that will lead up to Easter. We encourage all elementary age children to participate. Project Recycle - Judy Fields is putting containers for recyclables (plastic and aluminum) in the narthex each Sunday and in the fellowship hall when we have food there. Early on in the Bible, before the commandments were given or the prophets had spoken, The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. Genesis 2:15 (NIV). Stephen Ministry - Got a burden? You dont have to carry that burden alone. You can have a STEPHEN MINISTER who will spend time with you, listen to you, and walk beside you. If you or someone you know are interested in receiving care through the Stephen Ministry program at New Hope, please contact the pastor through the Church office at (615) 449-7020 and request that a Stephen minister contact you.

Ministries/Activities Within Our Church

There are five Sundays between now and Lent. Our church teaching emphasis during this time will be on building stronger ties with each other. Pastor Burrow will present a series of sermons on Colossians 3:12 clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, which are virtues that build community. I Love My Church campaign kicks off next Sunday with a celebration dinner and ministry fair at 5:00 PM. This evening is planned to focus on developing a deeper sense of ownership for the church within the church family. Not just another covered dish dinner; it is time to launch new beginnings for New Hope Church! A group of people will meet again at 6:00 PM this Wednesday, Jan. 23, to make detailed plans for the Jan. 27 dinner. Anyone who wishes to come and help with the planning is encouraged to and will be welcomed. It takes a lot of planning to do something as big as this. Session members are encouraged to attend.

Thought for the Week

amie Adams always went to a branch post office in her town because the postal employees there were friendly. She went there to buy stamps just before Christmas one year and the lines were particularly long. Someone pointed out that there was no need to wait in line because there was a stamp machine in the lobby. "I know," said Mamie, 'but the machine won't ask me about my arthritis." - Bits and Pieces, December, 1989, p. 2.
