Foundation Soil Sub-cut as required and replace with suitable compacted structural fill to achieve required bearing capacity. Freeze/Thaw If placed in an area that is susceptible to freeze and thaw cycles and the corresponding heaving of soils, excavate to a depth beyond which frost will occur and fill with concrete and/or a non-frost susceptible material such as clean crushed stone. Maximum Height Assuming the column is to be built without reinforcing rebar in the cores or other tie downs, the maximum height would be dependent upon the wind load and/or pedestrian point load to be applied to the column. The addition of rebar and grout to the column core in combination with additional embedment will allow for additional height. Construction If no rebar and grout is added to the column core, then it is recommended that a premium construction grade concrete adhesive be applied between each Column Block and also the Cap.
