The Halifax Regional Water Commission ("HRWC"), has made application to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board, for approval to amend its Schedule of Rates and Charges and Schedule of Rules and Regulations for the provision of water, public and private fire protection, wastewater and stormwater services. Based on estimated annual household consumption of 188 cubic metres, the overall rate increases proposed for the usual residential services (Water; WasteWater' and strifmwater) would be 11.2% effective July 1, 2013 and 16.7% effective April1, 2014. HRWC is also requesting approval of the Cost of Service Rate Design Manual as filed with the Board on October 31, 2012, which includes proposed allocation of fire protection charges.
