Objective: This is your chance to have your own commercial air during the Super Bowl in February! You will work with a partner to create a commercial to be submitted to AFN. When your final video is finished and turned in, your teacher will submit it to AFN for consideration. This assignment will serve as 75% of your midterm for this class. You will have five class periods to complete your commercial. Use all available class time wisely. AFN Rules (as listed on http://www.afneurope.net/tabid/1205/Default.aspx): Commercial must be 14 or 29 seconds in length. Exported movie must be less than 100 megabytes. Students under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a release stating permission to participate. Videos can be serious or humorous. All ideas must be original. Commercial may not promote a real corporate entity, product or brand. Videos must be submitted with the AFN entry and release form (see attached). Eligible videos will be available for viewing at www.afneurope.net.

Video Comm. Assignment Guidelines: Video ideas must be original and must advertise an original product or service. Concept must be school appropriate. Inappropriate material will not be eligible for submission to AFN and will result in a zero for the assignment. Final commercial must match storyboards prepared in the preproduction phase. No group will be allowed to move on to production until storyboards are complete. Final movie must be turned in by deadline to be considered for AFN submission.

Dear Parent, I am proud to be your childs teacher for the high schools elective Video Communications course. As you may know, overseas distribution rights agreements prevent AFN from airing American commercials during the Super Bowl. To compensate for this and to fill airtime when thousands will be watching, AFN is accepting submissions for viewercreated content. This month, my video students will be producing TV commercials to submit to AFNs You Do It! Super Bowl commercial contest. If our work is selected, our students commercials will air during AFNs broadcast of the Super Bowl! The deadline for this assignment is January 24th and the AFN submission deadline is the 27th. Students commercials will be given a class grade regardless of whether they are submitted for the contest, as long as they are submitted on time. The full contest rules and guidelines can be found here: http://www.afneurope.net/tabid/1205/Default.aspx I am writing because AFN requires that students under 18 have permission from a parent or guardian to participate. If you consent to allowing your childs image and likeness to appear on television, please sign the following release form and give it to your child to return to school. This is a great opportunity to showcase the work of our Schweinfurt students and potentially distribute our hard work to thousands of viewers during the Super Bowl!

Sincerely,
