| Structure | The Model Classroom Design Team is a blended model that combines online meetings, a two- day intensive workshop (February 8th-9th, 2013), an online PLC, and small group advisor meetings. Each online or in-person session introduces a design assignment which teachers will develop and implement within their classroom, sharing their results in the online PLC. Pearson advisor meetings (in-person and via Go to Meeting web conference) will focus on personal goals and reflective practice, taking place on a flexible schedule throughout the program. Length | One Month Structure| Whole group meeting initiates session, followed by personal observations and one- on-one meetings (the following Thursday), teachers record and share practices in social network space. Content Areas | Challenge-Based Learning, 21st century skills & literacies, technology integration, Common Core Alignment & Toolkit What exactly is challenge-based learning (CBL)? How is it like project-based learning, but yet distinctly different? This session will explore CBL key aspects, breaking it down to give you the option of exploring a small piece or a big project-sized bite. A connected assignment will challenge you to design two instances of classroom instruction that pull from CBL theory, or, alternatively- you can opt to design or refine a challenge-based project for implementation in the upcoming months. During this session, well continue the active design process of building our Common Core implementation toolkit.
