Effective July 9, 2012, please be advised of the following guidelines on the use of air conditioning units in MQCPI for your information and strict compliance.

RATIONALE One way of maximizing our resources is by utilizing efficiently the use of equipment, especially those that consume more energy such as air-conditioning units. One way of efficiently using air conditioning units is by turning them off when not in use or during off-peak hours. This is also required as a preventive measure in maintaining the efficiency of the equipment.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

All air conditioning units in MQC (including those located in MQC Annex) shall only be allowed to be turned on at 8:00 in the morning. Classes that will be affected by the turning off of air conditioning units shall be advised to use electric fans instead. The following schedule should be strictly observed in the use of air conditioning units.

HRM Classrooms are exempted to this rule; however air conditioning units are to be turned off when not in use. MONITORING The General Services Office (GSO) shall be responsible in monitoring the use of air conditioning units. GSO personnel are given the authority to turn off air-conditioning units on the specified time. GSO personnel shall conduct checking of offices and classrooms and note any violations on their respective areas at the end of the day, at the very least. The GSO should note any violations regarding the guidelines set forth in this memorandum and The GSO supervisor is required to prepare weekly report of findings in case of violations. This will be submitted to the Human Resources Office (HRO).

The following disciplinary actions shall be undertaken in case of violation of the aforementioned guidelines: o o 1 Offense Verbal reminder from the HRO Succeeding Offense Written memorandum from the HRO

Violations shall be considered as factors that will impact on the performance appraisal of employees.
