Environmental impact mitigations (topsoil management, housekeeping, waste management, reinstatement, etc.) will be handled in line with BTC Statement of Environmental & Social Requirements (BTC-SOR-ESM-GEN-001). All wastes, except for inert wastes, will be transferred to the nearest PT segregated, labelled, packed and with properly filled and signed Waste transfer Notes generated by BIL. Inert material originating from construction activities are subject to reusing / recycling. Should villagers and/or local authorities are willing to take those materials, written consent/approval from villager/mukhtar/local authority (whichever is applicable) will be signed to receive materials for reuse and collect pre-handover photographs of the site. If not, approved quarry/landfill will be used as an option. No quarry or landfill will be used without approval from BTC Co. Written consent/permit for disposal and sign-off document (confirming that there are no residual issues and no complaint) should be obtained from the quarry/landfill owner or licensed operator and photographic evidence on the pre, during and post disposal status of the disposal site will be collected. All generated wastes should be segregated, classified, labelled and stored as follows: Inert; Non-hazardous Recyclables (glass, metals, paper/cardboard), Non-hazardous Reusables (e.g. vegetation, wood and food scraps) and non-hazardous; Domestic (non-hazardous waste that cannot be recycled nor reused); Hazardous - non-medical; Hazardous - Medical. Each hazardous waste will be separated from each other and will not be mixed under any circumstances. Hazardous wastes shall be stored in a bunded (designed to contain 110% of volume of the largest container, drum, etc), impermeable, covered and access restricted storage area. Topsoil management requirements/rules should be followed carefully. Currently available access roads will be used to reach the working area. However, if vehicle movement outside of the fence and the access road becomes essential, the compacted area compacted topsoil by heavy vehicles shall be ploughed by a hydraulic tractor with ripper in order to help the rehabilitation of the topsoil after construction work is completed. If the level of compaction is significant and the impacted vegetation may not recover as a result of this compaction, reinstatements methods such as seeding, fertilising and jute matting shall be used to mitigate

the impact. Where excavation is required as per the work, the topsoil shall be carefully stripped to its full depth and stored separately. If excavation is NOT an issue, compacted topsoil by heavy vehicles shall be ploughed by a hydraulic tractor with ripper in order to help the rehabilitation of the topsoil after construction work is completed. The BTC RoW and any extra land used shall be reinstated to a sufficient extent in order to allow the affected area to be returned to its pre-project use and productivity. In all cases BTC-SOR-ESM-GEN-001 shall be followed. Wastewater will be sent to the nearest PT accompanied with a BIL Waste Transfer Form. Seasonal sensitivities: BVT25: The area is in the Ecologically Sensitive Area 21 (ESA21). There is also seasonal constraint for breeding mammals (wild goat) between October-December and for bears hibernation in November-April. There are also constraints for breeding birds: for Turkish Chamois in MarchApril and October-December and for Forest Durmouse in May-September. However, since the construction works will be executed within BVT fence area and in the vicinity of BVT, the precaution will be as follows: Worker training regarding non-disturbance of nearby herds should be carried out. If project execution extends to March or beyond, environmental team shall be notified and the mitigation measures will be advised by environment team if required accordingly. BVT 27 & BVT 28: The areas are in the Ecologically Sensitive Area 24 (ESA24). There is also seasonal constraint for breeding birds (Black kite) from April with July remaining sensitive for late and second broods. However, since the construction works will be executed in October-December within BVT fence area and in the vicinity of BVT, the only precaution will be as follows: If project execution extends to April or beyond, environmental team shall be notified and the mitigation measures will be advised by environment team if required accordingly.
