FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT

Childrens Involvement Welcome At the 9:30 am Mass

There are many opportunities for children in the parish to participate in a special way during our parish liturgies. Those who would like to volunteer are encouraged to speak to one of the ushers when they arrive at the church before Mass, to see what openings are still available. Examples of opportunities are: greet parishioners entering the church; hand out childrens bulletins to any young parishioners coming to Mass; assist adult ushers with the collection; participate in the offertory procession; hand out parish bulletins after Mass as parishioners exit the church. In addition, those who have been Confirmed and would like to be trained as a lector for the 9:30 am Mass are asked to contact the parish office. Families are encouraged to celebrate the birthday of Jesus on Christmas morning at the 9:30 am Mass. Children will be invited as a group to pray at the Nativity Scene, to join the presider in the Sanctuary for the homily, to surround the Altar for Our Lords Prayer and to bring the Sign of Peace to the congregation.

Fourth Sunday of Advent

In an effort to lift the hearts and minds and energies of believers to a more authentic celebration of this season, believers are reminded that the most important gifts of this season are the ones that God alone can give. We can rejoice with Micah (first reading) in the knowledge that the Lord who was born in Bethlehem will always be there to rule and shepherd his people. We can give thanks with the author of Hebrews (second reading) that he has come to establish a new covenant in his own blood and that through that blood we are also sanctified. Finally, we can celebrate with Mary and Elizabeth (Lucan gospel) because we have been blessed; the Lord has indeed come to us.

Update: Restore, Renew, Rejoice!

Our Feasibility Study to gain feedback from parishioners regarding support and input of our proposed combined Capital Campaign for Archdiocesan and Parish needs is now complete. M&M International is now preparing a report on the data collected throughout the process, which will be submitted to the parish early in January. A summary report will be presented to parishioners by the end of January. We thank the many parishioners who participated in interviews and open forum sessions. The scope and design of the project may need to be adjusted in response to the feedback received from parishioners and the results of the study. There will be opportunities for consultation on the different aspects of the project and the design elements over the next few months. Details will be provided through pulpit and bulletin announcements in 2013. Professional Volunteers Required for the Building Committee: Our Building Committee will require more volunteers, especially from professional fields such as engineering, architecture and building trades (who do not plan to bid on any aspects of this project). Together with Larkin Architect, the technical assistance provided in determining the details of all aspects of the project will help ensure the best possible outcome for our efforts on behalf of the parish. Please prayerfully consider offering your time and expertise on this committee and contact the parish office for more information.

New Pieces for Our Nativity

We would like to thank Lynett Funeral Home for a donation to our Nativity Scene. Should anyone wish to sponsor a piece, please contact the parish office.

Dear Parishioners,
The Christmas season points us in two distinct directions. As Christians we look to the past as we celebrate the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, Gods anticipated Messiah. At the same time we long for the future consummation of the Kingdom, the transformation of creation that we as Christians associate with Christs return. In the present, the Christmas season calls us to witness, to be signs of that kingdom even in the here and now. May Christ be born anew in our hearts during this joyous and hopeful season. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Fr. Nino
