Jumaa Prayer
for the Muslims of Africa and beyond

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (Jn 3:16). In a few days, we celebrate the coming of God's Son, through whom we have eternal life. Pray this week that Muslim eyes and hearts will open up to the truth of God's Incarnation and the depth of His love and sacrifice for them through Jesus.

Today's Prayer Requests: From Students and Alumni

SENEGAL: In the 21 September bulletin, a student who pastors in Dakar asked for prayer for a young Christian who, after 2 years in the Dakar church, felt he should return to his Muslim village. We praise God for this update: I thank the Jumaa Prayer team. The brother from our church . . . has returned to live with his family and with his father, who wanted to kill him. He continues to live his faith with no problem. He testifies that he has talked to his family without fear about the power of Jesus, and his mother has been very touched by these words. He asks for continued prayer and support, that he may have the strength to keep witnessing. He also asks for prayer for his sister, who has some problems in her marriage; he believes this could be an occasion to testify to her of the power and greatness of Jesus. Let's continue to lift up this brother and his family, and others who are boldly living their faith in similar situations.

In the News
EGYPT: Pray concerning the second stage of voting on the draft Constitution, which favors stronger implementation of sharia. Ten of the 27 provinces have voted, and the Islamic backers of the document claim 56% yes votes. Opposers claim fraud and violations at polling places and note that many unveiled women were turned away. On Saturday the remaining provinces will vote. Please pray that polling will be peaceful and that the Lord will move in the hearts of the leaders and Egyptians who seek true peace. KUWAIT: For the second time this year, the Parliament in this Islamic nation have approved a law imposing the death penalty for blasphemy against God, prophets, Mohammed's wives, and the Koran. Non-Muslims would be jailed for at least 10 years for the same offense. When the Parliament passed this law earlier, the Emir rejected it. Please pray concerning this situation and for the Emir. From Global Initiative*

Pray for Libyas Muslims during a time of extreme upheaval and uncertainty. This past week Libya closed its southern border, with Algeria, Chad, Niger, and Sudan, to control the flow of arms, drugs, and illegal immigrants into the country. Because of the increase of armed groups and violence, martial law has been imposed as well. Pray for the leaders of the country. The transitional government now in place needs to draft a new Constitution, and Islamic law will likely be its basis. For more information and prayer requests, see http://bit.ly/TuNbtD.

For Muslim Women**

Please pray that outreaches taking place all over the world this Christmas season will bear much fruit in the lives of Muslim women.
