By: Bibiana M. nnouncing Chilubas death at Belvedere Lodge in Lusaka was his spokesperson Emmanuel Mwamba said the former presidents personal physician Dr Justin Kangwa tried in vain to resuscitate him for ten minutes. Mwamba explained that on Friday Chiluba had a normal day in his life and held meetings with his lawyers at 11:00 hours and another meeting with members of parliament from constituencies in Luapula Province at 16:00 hours for two hours. Mwamba said Chiluba felt rather unwell after 18:30 hours when the members of parliament left. He later called for Dr Kangwa

who arrived at 19:30hours. Mwamba said this was not a unique call from Chiluba for Dr Kangwa, who has been his

personal physician since 1994. Mwamba said Dr Kangwa attended to Chiluba who indicated that he was feeling much better

and asked his physician to leave and allow him to rest because his wife, Regina, who had been in Ndola, was on her way to C O N T I N UED ON PAGE 2

twenty nine year old Zambian businesswoman has been arrested in Pakistan for drug trafficking. Precious Selisho a resident of Northmead in Lusaka becomes the tenth woman to be arrested mostly in Asia and South America for trafficking in different types of narcotic drugs in the last six months. Selisho was arrested at Quetta International Airport for trafficking in Heroin crystals weighing 250 grams which was placed in her uterus. Selisho was arrested by the airport security personnel as she was about to board a plane to Dubai. She risks a possible death penalty or a lengthy jail term as

Pakistan is an Islamic nation and with one of the most strict antidrug laws. DEC spokesperson John Nyawali says in a statement that the arrest of Ms Selisho comes a week after two other Zambian women were arrested in Sao Paulo Brazil for trafficking in different quantities of cocaine. Early this year the DEC arrested Ms. Selisho in Lusaka for cocaine trafficking but was later discharged by a Lusaka magistrate court. Mr Nyawali says the Commission is concerned with the dehumanizing methods of concealing drugs in biological organs which is an indication that some medical personnel have fallen prey to the tactics of the drug cartels.

back home. He was joking that my doctor, go and rest. But Dr Kangwa chose to stay and waited until Mrs Regina Chiluba arrived. During this period, Dr Chiluba showed signs of improvement. He was taken from the living room to his bedroom, Mwamba said. When Mrs Chiluba arrived from Ndola at 23:30, everyone welcomed her. When they went to the bedroom, Dr Chiluba sat up from the bed because he was lying down and sat on the edge of the bed. He said Chiluba sat in that position for about 20 minutes. Then a few minutes before midnight, 10 minutes before midnight, Dr Chiluba suffered unknown attack. I am not a medical doctor so I dont know what it is. Frantically, Dr Kangwa tried to test him for his BP because he has all those machines at his home. Dr Kangwa got Dr Chiluba and lay him down on the bed. He realised that Dr Chiluba was not breathing. He tried to resuscitate him for the next ten minutes, he performed CPR and he realised that Dr Chiluba had died. He declared Dr Chiluba dead at 00:05 hours on Saturday. Mwamba said Dr Charles Mwandame from the University Teaching Hospital was called in and he also confirmed that Chiluba had died, after which former first lady Vera Chiluba Tembo, the former presidents children and family

as well as State House and senior government officials were informed. For For the last six years, Dr Chiluba has been treated for a heart condition by specialist doctors from South Africas Garden City Clinic. He was last in South Africa last month, in May 2011, and stayed for treatment and observation (for) 20 days. His doctors were satisfied with his progress. Back home he is monitored and observed by Dr Justin Kangwa, Mwamba explained. Dr Chiluba was born on 30th April 1943 and celebrated his 68th birthday while we were in South Africa. Mwamba said doctors in South Africa had told Chiluba to return there for review in three months but the former president said he would only go back after Zambias presidential and general elections. He said Chilubas health had been very well of late. We are also inundated with calls from relatives, friends, and supporters from all over the country whether they should travel to Lusaka. I will urge that we wait for further communication from government and the committee that is headed by defence minister Dr Kalombo Mwansa. Chiluba remains a property of the state and we will therefore wait for government to give details of the official funeral and burial programme, Mwamba said.

Carbohydrates
food composed of some combination of starches, sugar and fiber - provide the body with fuel it needs for physical activity by breaking down into glucose, a type of sugar our cells use as a universal energy source. Fiber is also important and is found in plant foods (fruit, vegetables and whole grains) and is essential for maintaining a healthy digestive system. Food rich in proteins are also important in our bodies. Protein is also known as the polypeptide in the scientific way. You probably know you need to eat protein, but what is it? Many foods contain protein but the

best sources are beef, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy products, nuts, seeds, and legumes like black beans and lentils. Protein builds up, maintains, and replaces the tissues in your body. Dairy products provide a rich source of calcium, necessary for bone health. Most are fortified with vitamin D, which helps the small intestine absorb calcium. Calcium can also be found in dark green, leafy vegetables, such as kale and collard greens, as well as in dried beans and legumes. exercise regularly. Try to exercise for 30 to 60 minutes, 4 to 6 times a week, but remember that any amount of exercise is better than none.

Floss:
Brushing doesnt remove every piece of plaque. Lucky us, we have dental floss, which removes food particles in between teeth and at the gum line. Those who dont floss regularly have much higher chances of developing an oral disease, such as gingivitis. Reduce Stress: Take 15 minutes out of your busy day to unwind briefly and take a few deep breaths, inhaling slowly, and then exhaling as you clear your mind. While at work, sit upright, with a straight-back, in your chair. Place both of your arms out to the side and gradually move them upward,

meeting directly above your head. Bring them down together in front of you. This should make you feel lighter, calmer, and generally less-stressed for a period in the day. Smile and laugh: When you feel that tension building in your neck or you find yourself grinding your teeth, stop and just smile. Youll instantly feel relieved from your worries. Rent a funny movie or laugh about a ridiculous joke your friend told you. The important thing, just take some time out to laugh and flash that beautiful smile, even if its only for yourself.

of ice cubes, pour in the water and squeeze in the juice of fresh lemon or throw in a couple sprigs of clean, fresh mint to give it some flavor. (Check the nutrition labels of the trendy flavored-water drinks before buying, many are loaded with sugar and will help to negate the effect of drinking H2O) Get some sunshine: We all need vitamin D, which is a nutrient that can be obtained by catching some rays. The sun also assists in releasing endorphins, a secretion from the pituitary gland that is correlated with a generally good, energetic feeling.

Drink more water:

Water keeps you hydrated and helps to flush out toxins from your body. Instead of grabbing a soda, pick up a glass, throw in a couple

Sleep right:
A full eight hours of peaceful sleep is the best idea for your health. If that seems a little much, try taking it easy for about an hour or so before you plan on

going to bed. All in all, it is best to try to rest and relax for 1/4-1/3 of the 24 hour day. Wash your hands: Wash your hands continuously during the day to kill 90% of germs with hot water and antibacterial soap. If this is even too much to do, just grab some antibacterial hand gel and rub it into your hands, front and back. Diseases are most easily and frequently transferred via the hands. Maintain healthy relationships: Healthy, supportive relationships with family and close friends will reduce anxiety and will provide a more positive outlook on life. Its important to listen as much, if not more than, you talk; think about what you want to say before it comes out of your mouth; understand that everyone is human and makes mistakes.

WHEN manufacturers of certain products are striving to minimise the size of certain gadgets, the womens handbags are getting bigger and bigger.
What has happened?

roducts such as laptops, cellular phones and others are reducing in size but the womens handbag has transited from an item that could be hidden under the armpit to something resembling a travelling bag. Today, a woman carrying a small handbag would be the odd one out in the crowd. Several working women talked to say the new handbag accommodates everything and is more convenient compared to what our mothers used to carry in years gone yonder. They accommodate everything that is make-up, like powder, all the accessories like combs. All the accessories that a woman would want to freshen up can be carried, says one career woman, Chileshe Mutale, while exhibiting her big black handbag. Our mothers did not have these kind of handbags because they used to wear very little make-up but for these big handbags even mothers can use them to carry diapers and other baby necessities. To a career woman, the bigger handbag is best described as a self-contained fashion symbol. Apart from that you can use that when travelling instead of carrying a travelling bag. In short it is convenient, the working class woman explains. Grace Chisi, a student at Evelyn Hone College in Lusaka says the bigger handbag is closely connected to the changing fashion trends. Women in the past had limited hairdos but now we have to carry things like combs to put our Brazilian hair in shape. Our mothers only had wetlook, perm,

plaited or Afro hair, Chisi says. The handbags are bigger now because we carry a lot of things. For example, you can put shoes or even a small laptop in your handbag. Mary Lungu, a businesswoman, says handbags are a very important part of womens accessories. Lungu says there are certain pieces such as a handbag, shoes, earrings, scarf and sunglasses that make a difference on any womans outfit. A good handbag or pair of shoes can make all the difference on someones outfit. It is very important to make sure that you have good handbags to complement your clothes. While big bags are in fashion, women still buy smaller ones to use for evening functions. There are also bags which are used on casual clothes, office clothes, Lungu

says. Bags also go with ones body size. While big bags are in fashion, the bag should not be too big that it dwarfs the person carrying it. The handbag should also not be too small, especially on someone with a big body. There are all those considerations which should be taken when buying these bags. Lungu says it is good for women to follow the trends. It is good to exercise caution because the fact that a handbag looks good on the runway does not mean that it will look good on you. Not everything that is in fashion is good, Lungu says as she reaches for a pen from her big Hermes bag. It would not be wrong to say that womens handbags have taken an opposite swing from the contemporary beliefs that the smaller an item was, the better

because of female folks fashion consciousness. Experts in the fashion industry say handbags are vital accessories and one would not consider their wardrobe complete without them. They agree that fashion has been evolving and most women are conscious of the trends. Its no wonder that most of them are always looking out for the latest trends in handbags in the world. Several fashion houses in the world are cashing in on their designer handbags especially with todays celebrities who are always ready to spend millions of dollars on classic and timeless pieces. These celebrities also tend to influence the trends among people because they are, to some people, trendsetters as far as fashion is concerned. But is fashion consciousness worth the trouble?

FAZ advice on convicted players

of the players in Zambia was dependent on FIFA directives. Seven Zambian players were on Monday handed six to 20 months suspended sentences for accepting bribes ranging from $15,000 to $57,000 each to affect the outcome of matches at Finnish side RoPS. Responding to a press query, FIFA media department said it was a general rule that once players sanctions had expired, they were eligible to play. However, FIFA warned that there should be no other related charges from another body. As a general rule, once the sanction (e.g. suspension imposed on a player for match fixing) has expired, the player is again eligible to play. For the sake of completeness, FIFA has to be sure that the player has not been sanctioned by another body from a Confederation or FIFA, FIFA said. Zambian players formerly of RoPS are Godfrey Chibanga, Chileshe Chibwe, Francis Kombe, Stephen Kunda, Christopher Musonda, Chanda Mwaba and Nchimunya Mweetwa were sentenced along with their two Georgian team-mates for matchfixing. In May, Dominic Yobe, who by the time played for HJK Helsinki, and his brother Donwell, who played for AC Oulu, were also found guilty of match-fixing and handed seven-month suspended sentences and told to pay the sum of the bribe to the state. The duo has since returned to Zambia. Meanwhile, Kasengele said they will seek guidance from FIFA and the Finnish FA over the status of the players with regards to their suspended sentences. There are two issues here, first the players were convicted in Finland, we have to deal with the Finnish FA and FIFA. We will be able to be advised by FIFA, Kasengele said.
