Downton Abbey
Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern star in this special episode of the acclaimed period drama series. In the sumptuous setting of Downton Abbey, the hugely popular characters pick up some of the storylines from the third series, set in 1920. As the Crawley family and the servants who work for them face new challenges, their lives remain closely intertwined. Throughout the great house new arrivals rattle the established hierarchies, and the lives of the inhabitants are shaped by romance, ambition, desire, shocks and heartbreak as ever. The secure, serene and ordered world of Downton is rocked by passions below the surface and there are changes above and below stairs. The family receive a warm welcome at Duneagle Castle when they visit Rose (Lily James) and her parents in the Highlands. But there is no disguising the tensions between their hosts. Back at Downton, Carson (Jim Carter) is determined to keep the servants working hard, but with a country fair coming up, will some be tempted to push their luck? Could romance be on the cards for Mrs Patmore (Lesley Nicol)?

The first night of Dick Whittington leads to theatrical tension in this comedy drama written by Jonathan Harvey. The pantomime has been in rehearsals for weeks and tonight a dress rehearsal has been called before the curtain goes up. Tensions are beginning to show. Producer Di (Samantha Spiro) has lofty ambitions for the performance, which means that director Francis (Mark Benton) must try valiantly to pull the show to order despite her constant interfering. Adding to Francis's troubles is a backstage romance between panto newcomer Lewis (John Bishop) and local celebrity Tamsin (Sheridan Smith), who is playing principal boy Dick. Lewis is not only fond of Tamsin but also fully aware that his own career path may take an upward turn if their relationship continues. Unfortunately, a potential fly in the ointment appears in the form of his ex-wife, who unexpectedly delivers his son to the stage door. Lewis realises that he must take his fatherly duties seriously. Other members of the cast include faded theatrical actor Johnny Darby (Michael Cochrane), nervous Chantelle (Ami Metcalf), and Chesney Hawkes (playing himself), an accident-prone good guy trying hard to show that he has more to his musical repertoire than The One and Only. The dress rehearsal proves to be disastrous, but this is nothing compared to the bombshell delivered during the performance when Tamsin decides to leave at the interval. Maybe a curmudgeonly dwarf playing Tickles the cat could come to the rescue?

Wild at Heart
The drama series following the adventures of vet Danny Trevanion (Stephen Tompkinson), who emigrated to a game reserve in South Africa, comes to an emotional conclusion this Christmas with this one-off finale. New Year at Leopards Den sees Du Plessis (Deon Stewardson) making a last-ditch effort to heal the rifts in the family. Alice (Dawn Steele) has returned, but the stress of combining work with caring for baby Bobby causes tension between her and Danny, which is exacerbated by their flirtatious new neighbour. A further blow falls when the three-legged cheetah, Cassidy, and his new mate are stolen by poachers. With the wedding only a few days away, tempers are already running high even before a trip to the doctor brings devastating news for Du Plessis. His heart is weak, and without immediate bed rest the prognosis is very bad. He must use his remaining time to fix his ailing family. He persuades pilot Dylan to fly them all to Zimbabwe to rescue the cheetahs in the hope that the trip will bring them back together. Whether this final wild adventure will heal the familys wounds remains to be seen, but things are not looking good when the poachers identity is revealed. Vernon Kay returns to present a brand new festive episode of the popular game show in which two teams battle it out to win up to 30,000 for their chosen charity. A soap star team from Emmerdale (pictured), headed up by their captain Lucy Pargeter, who plays Chas Dingle, and featuring fellow stars Natalie Anderson, Mark Charnock, Fiona Wade and Gemma Oaten, compete against an all-star team from ITV1's lively breakfast show Daybreak, led by captain Aled Jones and featuring fellow presenters Dr Hilary Jones, Ranvir Singh, Gethin Jones and Richard Arnold. Both teams hope to win big money by answering a series of seemingly easy questions, based on a survey of 100 members of the British public. Anyone familiar with the format will understand that this is never as easy as it sounds, and know how rare it is for a team to come up with a full list of answers. The opposing team will be ready to pounce with a make-or-break answer of their own, hoping to steal the cash prize for that round. Vernon is never shy when presented with bizarre, ridiculous or hilarious suggestions, and will be sure to dig up some embarrassing information on at least one of the contestants before the game is over. The winning team has the opportunity to play for the full 30,000 in the final Big Money round, but with limited time and some tricky questions, will they be able to second-guess the British public and secure the full amount?
In this one-off documentary, presenter Joanna Lumley goes in search of the truth behind one of the most famous tales ever told. The mystery of Noahs Ark has always fascinated her. How much truth is there behind the story, who was Noah and when and why did the flood happen?

The adventure continues in India, where a Hindu temple and forgotten civilisation hold more clues.
