Self medication in Homeopathy Self medication is most dreaded thing in Allopathy or conventional medical system.

You are always threatened that in case of self medication you may get yourself harmed. This is absolutely true. In Allopathy not only self medication harms but also medicines prescribed by doctors harm you in one or the other way. In most of the cases they give you a disease more serious than for which you had sought medical help. Only difference between self medication and medicines prescribed by a doctor is that doctor knows how much harm he is causing you and he may keep himself within limits and as you dont know how much harm you are causing to yourself you may poison yourself way beyond. Basically all allopathic medicines are poisons and kill you. Allopathic doctors have a funda of cost benefit analysis. They say that harm caused to you by medicines when weighed against good done to you is considerably less. In emergency and also some other cases this may be true, but in most of the cases these are un-necessary and avoidable. When we talk about Homeopathy, this is gentle, harmless and most importantly is not poisonous. So there is not even a remote chance that you may harm yourself. Even if some remedy produce some troubles these will move away on its own without causing any serious harm to you. In worst cases it can be antidoted. In homeopathy medicines are prepared and potentized through dilutions in which presence of gross molecules of active substance go on decreasing exponentially at every step so much so that at 12c potency it crosses Avogadro limit and theoretically not even a single molecule remains in the potentized remedy. So possibility of poisoning yourself is zero. In Homeopathy as you are free from side effects and there is no chance of harming yourself there is ample scope of self medication. Even if you fail to cure yourself you have not harmed yourself. Once you have failed yourself you can always consult an expert homeopath. I am a strong advocate of self medication. It gives you freedom. It obviates your reliance on an expert and you know wherever there is a reliance there is always a scope of exploitation which doctors of conventional medical system do in plenty. It also saves your time and hassles of consulting an expert. You may recall those lengthy queues and enormous waiting time and of course cold response of an expert.

In homeopathy there are a good number of routine medicine which are specific to certain diseases, you can try these at home and there are quite good chances that you will be able to successfully cure yourself, if not then you can always consult an expert. In Homeopathy you dont need to be an erudite. You dont need to know hifi medical terms. Those pompous words which doctors pronounce conceitedly are useless and have nothing to do with your cure. You dont need to know even about intricacies of your body. You dont need to know about the name of disease, whether it is caused by a bacteria or virus or fungus or protozoa. In homeopathy you simply need to know your troubles. How it aggravates, when it aggravates, what ameliorates, and what aggravates. That is all. You will find the right remedy for you. Its action is quick. Homeopathys speed of action is in correspondence with the intensity of your troubles. If your troubles are intense, unbearable and life threatening it will act quickly and if you can bear troubles it would act accordingly. Moral of the story is that Homeopathy saves you from inconvenience. All this doesnt mean that you resort to blind self medication. Before you resort to self medication you need to keep some points in your mind. Always start with 30c potency. While self medicating always use 30c, it is sufficiently potentized to act and adequately diluted to cause any toxicity. If you use lower potencies there is a chance of poisoning yourself. Some cases have been reported when persons have toxicated themselves with arsenic while using arsenic sulf fluovum 1x used for treatement of leucoderma. So be careful of this, do not use lower potencies while self medicating. If you use potencies higher than 30c, its effects may be so deep that in some cases if needed it cannot be antidoted. Some homeopathic medicines are inimical to each other. If you are taking two or more homeopathic medicines at a time or in sequence, be informed about that. You need to know which medicines are inimical and which are complementary. In some cases despite being fit use of Silicea and Phosphorus are prohibited, these may cause unwanted effects. So be informed about these medicines. If any foreign object is deep inside your body for example in your lungs, Silicea in order to expel it out will cause suppuration around it and this

suppuration may be harmful. Similarly use of Phosphorus in advance stages of tuberculosis is prohibited, it may cause unwanted effects. In emergency and life threatening cases dont resort to self medication use homeopathy only as a first aid and seek expert medical help as soon as possible. If you take care of above mentioned points, self medication is highly advisable and most welcome in homeopathy.
