Introduction to the GCC B.

MUN@GAL
Dear Delegates, It is our distinct pleasure to welcome you to the inaugural session of the Global Crisis Committee at Beaconhouse Model United Nations GAL 2012! In accordance with the on-going process of revitalization of the deliberations in the UN hierarchy, specialized committees such as the Global Crisis are routinely introduced in real-life simulations of the UN setting in order to augment the overall quality of the conference via revamping and uplifting the general level of debates. By clustering the consideration of the UNs core agenda thematically, holding interactive question-answer sessions, and actively working to reduce the number and length of draft resolutions adopted during the mundane sessions of the General Assembly, these innovative committees function on a three-pronged approach: a commitment to thrilling simulations, refreshing diversity, and tight-knit environments. Lengthy resolutions are replaced by immediate calls to action. Stagnant committees are replaced by simulations never seen before on the circuit. Large ballrooms are replaced by small boardrooms. These specialized committees fully embrace the fast-paced and unpredictable changes that state representatives face in todays increasingly globalized world. That very axiom extends in good length to the Global Crisis Committee. During the course of B.MUN@GAL 2012, the GCC will be directed towards critically evaluating the jurisdiction and limitation of the sphere of influence that the UN body can effectively exercise on matters of global security; analyzing the nature of on-going crises on a case-by-case basis; working towards opening channels for comprehensive and equitable dialogue among all stratum of the international security regime; and deriving effective set of recommendations that reinforce the very reason this committee is framed for avoiding imbecile vetoes. The Global Crisis Committee is the only specialized committee that has the ambit of considering topics that fall under the umbrella of the United Nations Security Council. Consider this as a rudimentary litmus test of the level of debate that the committee will be looking forward to. As part of the Beaconhouse community, let us remind ourselves that the BMUN-GAL conference is premised on the basic aim of providing a platform to students to hone their skills as persuasive public speakers who are able to think critically and are able to express themselves in a logical, succinct and sequential manner. Let us all make the most of the Beaconhouse Model UN platform. Let us all stay true to the spirit. We look forward to meeting you this December. Godspeed!
