In English 10 class, also known as the College Library Research Paper subject, I want to do a study about the gold mining industry in the Philippines for the past ten years specifically on the illegal gold mining issues. I want to investigate on this since back in 2002, the Philippines ranked 2nd in the top producers of gold in Southeast Asia. My proposed title is The Illegal Gold Mining in the Philippines for the Past Ten Years. Knowing the fact that Philippines is one of the top producers of gold in the region, surely there will also be gold extractions in illegal way. But the question is what has been done by the government to regulate such illegal mining in the country? Are there efforts even among private sectors to eradicate or at least lessen the number of illegal mining activities? And are these movements truly effective for the regulation of illegal mining? For an optimist but realistic citizen like me, I assume there are little efforts from our government since mining, in general, has been an issue for the past few years. For the purpose of library research paper, I will limit myself to book and journals from different libraries including the UP Library System and the National Library. Also I will get references on the internet for my electronic sources like e-book and other journals. But first I will consult my Geology 11 professor, Dr. Carla Dimalanta, about some of the common knowledge essential to my research topic and I think she could be a lot of help to me since she is an expert in this field.
