you climb a ridge a whitetails flank

you startle a deer has fallen

after one fallen deer woods all one fallen deer

a deer fallen the lake quiet

so much for all those oak leaves fallen deer

fallen deer -branches slash the human face

whitetail dead before the first flies come this human

whitetails eye no longer mirror

nothing in that hollow oak fallen deer

turnip greens deer & you

come home yes taste this pinch of earth

light touch fencerail fall ing

over rail fence just so

now where rail fence

rail fences where no one remembers

rail fences above a harbor who were they

rail fences took forever once
