Major Research Program:

Solar applications for potable water in rural area: Worked with local community leaders to identify needy families, to coordinate, implement, and manage grant projects in poor and unincorporated communities lacking infrastructure, removal of unsafe levels of toxins like micro-organisms, bacteria, chlorine, sediments, heavy metals, etc., through the use of solar water distillers. Solar water purification project covered the public outreach, organizing meetings, database and document creations, information and applications, teaching, consulting, installation, inspection, follow ups of stills use including reporting to funders (reports included expense reports, tables, comparisons, still recipient information, and so on). Expertise includes direct field experience in the colonies and areas of west Uganda, Tanzania, Western Rajasthan & Kutchh (Gujarat). Various R&D of Construction of passive solar straw bale house: alternative energy, alternative construction techniques, and alternative living styles (independent indigenous communities). Some of the topics include solar water distiller construction, solar room heaters, solar rock storage heat units, solar ovens, solar food dryers, passive solar house design, and straw bale construction. Solar Pond: Development of a Solar Pond System Design Computer Model / Analysis of the Potential Applications and Methods of Improving the Performance of Solar Ponds,

evaluated the potential of combining medium temperature solar pond technology, Use of a low temperature heat sink (deep, cold seawater) and a higher temperature heat source with integral energy storage (solar ponds) had the potential to significantly improve the performance (energy conversion efficiency) and cost effectiveness of the combined system relative to either of the other systems alone. Energy Storage: Significant experience and expertise in incorporating energy storage with photovoltaic systems to improve system utilization, to provide power during non-peak-solar periods, and to allow greater penetration of photovoltaic energy into the utility grid, have conducted comparative technical and economic analyses of a variety of energy storage technologies, these storage technologies were evaluated for both utility inter-tied and stand-alone systems.

Social Activities
I participated in a solar project in Earthquake affected Kutch, Gujarat in 2001. The aim of the initiative was to use solar solutions to take emergency light and power to the earthquake ravaged Kutch district.
