Employment Opportunity Business Development Specialist (Contract to March 31, 2015) This is a professional position with primary responsibility for attracting new businesses and investment to the Wikwemikong Community. This position provides face to face contact and support for business sectors, as well as manages information gathered from various sources. Will have significant autonomy to assist in the development of industry clusters, work with established industry groups and organizations to address short and long term growth objectives. Duties generally include: Business Development: Development and preparation of business plans and/or proposals. Will be required to undertake and/or direct industry research and economic market analysis to determine economic development opportunities suited for Wikwemikong. Indentify opportunities for joint ventures for development conduct negotiations concerning joint ventures. Research & Development Is accountable for gathering data regarding potential business opportunities and markets that Wikwemikong may benefit from and conduct intensive research pertaining to potential development, product development and product distribution. Will review and analyze business proposals and perform required due diligence where required. Keep up to date on the business trends locally, regionally, nationally and globally. To ensure investors remain informed, will maintain communication with clients regarding project activities. Administrative To ensure the preparation and accuracy of all documents generated by the Economic Development Department are completed based on time sensitive parameters Assemble data and prepare periodic and special reports and correspondence. To prepare reports, proposals and recommendations for presentation to project specific stakeholders, e.g., community, Chief and Council and WDC Board of Directors, etc. Qualifications: Bachelors degree or college diploma in economics, business administration, commerce or public administration or related field Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in business development area during which professional capability has been clearly demonstrated. Comprehensive computer knowledge software knowledge including word processing Proven record of success to develop project proposals and development of business plans. Performance of due diligence and risk assessments on business prospects and investment opportunities. Knowledge of business development strategies and tactics. Proven written and presentation skills. A valid G Drivers License and access to vehicle is required. Knowledge of Anishnabek culture and language is an asset.
