Andrew Lopp Mrs. Ingram English 1102 5 December 2012 Annotated Bibliography 1) American Holistic Medicine Association.

American Holistic Medicine Association. Web. http://www.holisticmedicine.org/ I found this source to be incredibly helpful. It allowed me to develop a differing viewpoint from that of current medical practices. I was able to produce a viable alternative to the how medicine and illness is currently being approached. This website offers a comprehensive overview of holistic medicine. It describes various approaches to treatment including the emotional, physical, and spiritual approaches. Holistic practitioners often do more than just use medicine to treat illness. They use dietary approaches, herbal treatments, meditation and various other forms of treatment combined together for the synergistic affect. By using the information provided by this source I was not only able to argue against current medical practices, but I was able to offer a viable alternative to how medicine and illness is currently being approached. 2) Antibiotic Resistance. Science Daily. ScienceDaily, LLC. Web. http://www.sciencedaily.com/articles/a/antibiotic_resistance.htm In addition to being a useful source for the information on antibiotic resistance, I used it specifically for its definition of antibiotic resistance. This definition was my favorite definition I found although they were all similar. I felt that it fit my purpose for the paper while also being a credible definition. 3) Barron, Jon. Worlds Greatest Medical Advancements. Jonbarron.org. The Baseline of Health Foundation. Web. http://www.jonbarron.org/article/worlds-greatest-medicaladvancements>. This source was an appropriate source for me because I did not want to undermine the accomplishment of discovering penicillin. This website ranks it as the second greatest medical achievement in history. But, it also does the same thing I want to do: recognize that it is now causing our demise. It is a credible source that holds the same viewpoint that I hold, so I thought that it would be supportive to include it in my paper. The website also saw that drugs such as penicillin are crippling society because of their overuse and the ensuing problems.

4) Complementary and alternative medicine. MayoClinic.com. Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research. Web. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/alternativemedicine/Pn00001 This source was used as a credible source for information regarding resistant bacteria, specifically MRSA, and the treatment of these bacteria. Mayo Clinic is a very persuasive source because it is a group of well educated and respected doctors within their respective fields. This is an excellent source for any medical related paper. For me, it offered an understandable explanation of what a system is as well as a wealth of other information. Although I did not use much of the other information, it was still an reliable source to confirm my findings from other sources and gather ideas for alternate avenues to pursue. 5) Thong, Bernard, Cassim Motala, and Daniel Vervloet. "Allergic Disease Resource Center." World Allergy Organization. World Allergy Organization, n.d. Web. http://www.worldallergy.org/professional/allergic_diseases_center/drugallergy/. After reviewing the feedback I received on draft two of the Argumentative Research Essay, I thought it would be a good idea to add a paragraph about allergies developing from overuse of drugs. This source turned out to be useful in that it confirmed my belief that allergies do develop from drug overuse, and it provided information as to how these allergies are formed and the direct effects of these allergies. This source is credible because it is from a global organization solely concerned with allergies. They are knowledgeable of their topic, allergies, and offer a wealth of information for any allergic questions one may have. Overall, this was a great source. 6) United States of America. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Diseases/Pathogens Associated with Antimicrobial Resistance. Atlanta: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2010. Web. <http://www.cdc.gov/drugresistance/diseasesconnectedar.html>. The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website is a dependable source because it is both a government website and it is compiled by experts of this field. This website was used to gain a better understanding of resistant bacteria and diseases, specifically MRSA. It contained a multitude of information on what MRSA was resistant to, how common it was, treatment options, etc This was helpful in my formulation of my argument because it gave me an example of a resistant bacterium that was common so that my readers could be able to relate to what I was saying. Now, my argument can have a more widespread affect because of this plausible source.
