WELCOME TO PEACE WITH CHRIST

LUTHERAN CHURCH!

We give thanks to God that you are joining us today!

Many of our guests are seeking a home church where they
can be part of the Fellowship of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Peace with Christ is a congregation that is a family not an
“organization”. We are small enough to allow people to
know each other by name, and yet large enough to offer
opportunities for growth and service. What we “specialize”
in is not programs or productions, but simply The Gospel
of Our Lord Jesus. Christ, His Word, and the Cross are
what provide the foundation for faith and ministry. If you
are interested in learning more about Peace With Christ
Lutheran Church, please call the church office at 226-4721.
Pastor Patrick would welcome the opportunity to visit with
you personally.
THE TIME before the service may be used for prayer and preparation.
Read through the worship bulletin and familiarize yourself with the service.
Use the hymn marker to mark the Psalm for the day. A few moments spent
this way will help make the service more meaningful.

NEXT WEEK’S LUTHERAN HOUR MESSAGE:

“Christ in the Midst of Change” Speaker: Rev. Dr.
Ken Klaus. The risen Christ brings about real change.
(1 Corinthians 9:22-23) Listen to The Lutheran Hour
Message on KOA, Denver (AM850) at 6:00 a.m. and
KFKA, Greeley (AM1310) at 9:30 a.m.

Our guest pastor today is the Rev. Carlton Hein. Many of you may
remember Rev. Hein from when he served as a summer vicar here at
Peace With Christ. He will also be leading bible study in the
Fellowship Hall. We are grateful for his faithful service in the Name
of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Commemoration
Purification of Mary and presentation of our Lord
Forty days after the birth of Christ the church marks the day Mary
and Joseph presented him in the temple in accordance with Jewish
law. Mary also humbly submitted to Jewish law to be purified after
childbirth. There in the temple, a prophet named Anna began to
speak of the redemption of Israel when she saw the young child.
Simeon also greeted Mary and Joseph. He responded to the presence
of the consolation of Israel in this child with the words of the Nunc
dimittis, the canticle that begins “Now, Lord, you let your servant go
in peace.” His song described Jesus as a “light for the nations.”

Because of the link between Jesus as the light for the nations, and
because an old reading for this festival contains a line from the
prophet Zephaniah, “I will search Jerusalem with candles,” the day is
also known as Candlemas, a day when traditionally candles are
blessed for the coming year.
LWML FEBRUARY MEETING
The next LWML meeting will be Monday, February 9th at 7pm in the
Fellowship Hall. The program on RECYCLING will be led by Rose
Watson, an Environmental Educator for the Larimer County Solid
Waste Department. Devotions and mites by Colleen Rohlfs. Hostesses
are Teri Frerichs and Lu Buchholz. All women are invited to attend
and bring a friend!
• LWML’s Mite Box for World Missions will be in the Narthex this
morning. Thank you for your donations!
• A few PWC members will be heading South to Ysleta Mission in
the next month and we would LOVE to gather a care package of
school supplies to go with them! Ysleta is in need of backpacks,
pencils/pens, markers, crayons, glue sticks, and paper year round.
Stickers, small toys and little notes would also be greatly appreci-
ated by our Friends in Christ across the border. Gently used (or
new) donations can be placed in the basket provided outside our
Fellowship Hall. Thanks for your continuing support of Ysleta
Mission.
• If you can’t seem to locate your favorite casserole dish/baking pan
OR if you’ve donated food recently for ANY church function,
please check out the kitchen before heading home today. We have
loads of unclaimed items and one may be yours!

A READING FROM THE BOOK OF CONCORD
FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY
FORMULA OF CONCORD, SOLID DECLARATION
ARTICLE II: FREE WILL
Out of His immense goodness and mercy, God provides for the
public preaching of His divine eternal Law and His wonderful
plan for our redemption, that of the holy, only saving Gospel of
His eternal Son, our only Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. God
desires to call people to eternal salvation. He desires to draw
them to Himself and convert, regenerate, and sanctify them.

· For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God
through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we
preach to save those who believe. (1 Cor. 1:21)

· [Peter] will tell you what you must do. (Acts 10:6)

· Faith comes from the preaching and preaching through the

Word of Christ (Romans 10:17 Luther).

· Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.. I do not ask

for these only, but also for those who will believe in Me through
their word. (John 17:17-20)

The eternal Father calls down from heaven about His dear Son
and about all who preach repentance and forgiveness of sins in
His name, "Listen to Him" (Matthew 17:5).

All who want to be saved ought to listen to this

preaching. For the preaching and hearing of
God's Word are the Holy Spirit's instruments.
By, with, and through these instruments the
Spirit desires to work effectively, to convert
people to God, and to work in them. [Philippians
2:13]. (paragraphs 50-52)

Approximately 75 people make up the LCMS World
Mission staff, which supports national and interna-
tional missionaries, LCMS military chaplains, and

Sunday: For Interim Executive Director Tom Zehnder. Ask

God to continually enable and equip him to provide leadership
for mission work in the LCMS and the Ablaze! movement.
Monday: For the International Mission Team as they provide

John Mehl, Brent Smith, and Jorge Groh in their international
areas of ministry.
Tuesday: For the National Mission Team, which includes North
American specialized ministries such as blind missions, deaf
