Born in an conservative middle class family and son of a defence Subordinate officer, a student of KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA I was born

and bought up in an varied and diverse atmosphere in various states of India, privileged to know different cultures at tender age. My education started in Ranchi (Jharkhand) a north Indian city where I had the chance to develop my Hindi language as my mother tongue is Tamil. After finishing my 8 th standard education in the Kendriya Vidyalaya, I had the chance to return to Chennai one of the best places in India for higher education. I completed my High School (till XII) in Kendriya Vidyala CRPF and had the opportunity to work with my computer Teacher Mr.Naresh who helped me in improving my programming skills. My father being a technician himself had developed in me a hunger to learn electronics and thus I decided to take up ECE (Electronic and Communication Engineering). After the XII results were announced I had the topmost score out of all students appearing for XII board in CRPF wards and I was awarded 1000 INR for my accomplishment. From then on constantly I am being awarded their scholarship to pursue my undergraduate course here. I wanted to be a part of an Innovative curriculum and thus Anna University colleges seemed the best. To avoid burdening my family from transport cost and to improve my health I started cycling daily to reach my college for three years. After taking up ECE I knew what I had to do. I started learning Microcontrollers and Embedded Systems which were the fields which I have a diehard interest. I started making bots like simple Obstacle Avoiders, Line followers simply for entertainment purpose. Electronics fascinated me and it entertained me. To buy the hardware parts and keep with the budget of my bots I started taking tuition for High school kids. It was my part time job as well as a key to improve my basics. Thus I never had to depend upon my parents for pocket money. I improved my skills in the field of Matlab, Arduino, Avr and Python and other tools and started participating in the competition in college level. I realised next that I can participate in various conferences via these projects and started preparing IEEE papers and the technology involved with those bots. I participated in my first paper presentation in a symposium VEL TECH VENTURE10 during my first year itself which was quite a feat in my college. During my second year I enhanced my skills with controllers and other tools and finally entered a national conference NTBEECOM11 in which I won the first prize. I started working with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and thus I had to work a lot on Embedded and Control systems field which are the two important governing concepts for an UAV to work with. My lecturers advised me to enter International conferences to improve my knowledge as well as display my expertise as well. I entered my first International Conference ICEEA11 and my project received a good feedback. Overall it augmented my confidence and I ended up participating international project expo VISAI twice and will continue doing so in future. I have ended up working in many UAV platforms and some ground robots as well controlled wirelessly.. In my college I was famed as the best in terms of project presentations and expo participation according to many professors and I received best mini project award for my tiny but innovative Hovercraft. I got in touch with few of my friends having same interest and I formed my group RCA (Robotics Club Association) during my final year and I started posting my project in my blog

www.roboass.blogspot.in. My main aim was to share the knowledge I learned and practised, with my classmates as well as juniors. The result was that I was the first person ever in my college to take a workshop for my juniors on AVR Microcontroller Programming. I also realised that I can lead and co-ordinate well and I was appointed as the overall co-ordinator for national conference ESAACS12 conducted in our college. I got a good response from my staff on my co-ordination and leadership skills and even the guest was stunned at the way the conference was organised with innovative ideas and appreciated me. WIPRO a reputed software firm in India visited our campus and I cleared their three interview rounds and I was among the five students in my class out of sixty who got selected. But I realised that I will be put in IT field instead of electronics field which confused me. I realised what I learned was just a foundation stone of engineering and my interest and motivation had driven me to acquire a lot extra and specialise in something special like embedded systems which has always fascinated me true to my heart. I decided to go for masters in Electrical and Computer instead of taking up job in WIPRO and am quite happy with my decision. My interest lies specifically in the field of Embedded Systems and Control Systems. To become a competitive graduate student and researcher, I not only have outstanding academic performance within electronics field, but also have a solid research foundation. I got selected for internship in Rangsons Electronics a leading industry in PCB board development where I learned about SMT technology and how to fabricate ICs. And also I had the opportunity of an industrial visit to BSNL which is a pioneer in communication field and I learned a great deal from that visit. At present I am also selected for project in BEL owing to my academic skills and research foundation which is an immense achievement for me. Taking up an Engineering profession was a decision not just because of my interest and money package alone but because my country India is still a developing country with 30% of the population below poverty line and I want to contribute my skills and knowledge to my country in future and technology and education is one of the aspects for such growth and development. I am socially involved person and am involved with numerous social causes like blood donation camps, tree plantation camps, etc. This application is very important for me because completion of a MENG degree in ECE is the best chance for unifying my interest in Electronics and cutting edge technologies and my natural inclination to Embedded and Control Systems. I am confident that when I become a serious and mature engineer my desire to make a contribution to engineering science and to our understanding of this world will remain my main driving force. I am certain that application to University of Calgary is the best possible step to accomplish my dreams and attain skills with which I can bring some revolutionary changes in this world. Being a member of the U15 shows its research intensive curriculum and being a top university in the world and inventor of neurochip I am quite sure I am not wrong with my decision. I would regard my admission not only as a great honour but also as a great responsibility and an obligation to work hard
