Please consider sponsorlng an amendment t~~

relating to abuse of children.

Apparently the Wi~consin Supreme Court has placed an In­

terpretatlon on the pres0nt 1aw which would make withhoJding

medical treatment a crime if th2 child is in a sltuatlon which

poses cruel maltreatmen~.

Our suggested amendment wo~ld be added on page 29 line l~

and ~ould read as follows:

948.03 CC)
940.201 (3) (e-) "No person shall be gUilty of an

offense under this section for the sale reason

h~ provides a child with treatment by spiritual

m.;:>ans thro'Jgh prayer a lone for healing in ac­

cGrdance wi th the religious :llethod of healing

permitted ur.der the laws of this s~ate in lIeu

of medical treatment.."

I would be happy to do what yuu fe81 is necessary to suprort

the drnendlalent through th~ leg~_ sl ati ve process.
