computing framework, and examine an available service model. Comment on its popularity with regards to the Gartner Report.

Cloud Computing Definition A style of Computing where scalable and elastic IT capabilities are provided as a service to multiple customers using Internet technologies Gartner Cloud Computing Introduction In the 1960s, John McCarthy generated the opinion that "computation may someday be organized as a public utility. The term cloud computing can be defined as hosted services being offered on the internet with cloud being a metaphor for the Internet. The history of cloud computing dates back to the 1960s when early predictions and service models were visualized. However the first working term and services started appearing in the later part of the 2000s with Amazon being one of the pioneers in bringing about this movement with the introduction oftheir Amazon web service platform in 2006. This was followed by the introduction of several open source cloud service providers. Cloud Computing Framework
Cloud computing providers have increased annually and with them so have the Services offered. There are widely accepted 3 core service models. 1. SaaS Software as a Service 2. PaaS Platform as a Service 3. IaaS Infrastructures as a Service

1. SaaS Software as a Service Saas - Software as a service is an application delivered over the platform of the Web to an end user, Which is accessed through a browser. This service is mostly compared to the Services organizations use for enterprise applications, such as Salesforce SFA have initiated according to the case study. Google - Microsoft have both now implemented cloud services in their online services within the office automation features in hotmail, Gmail Google Docs, and Google Calendar. This was the initial step within the modern cloud computing era. Prominent Providers of this service include Salesforce, Netsuite, Oracle on Demand, and Google Apps. 2. PaaS Platform as a Service PaaS - Platform-as-a-service is a complete platform, including application development, interface development, database development, storage, testing, etc., delivered through a remotely hosted platform to subscribers. These services are provided to enterprise customers or subscribers for a fee. Prominent Providers of this service include Bungee Labs Connect, Coghead, Google App Engine, Long.jump, Force.com, Etelos, Oracle SaaS, and Apprenda SaaSGrind. 3. IaaS Infrastructures as a Service IaaS - Infrastructure as a service provides the computer infrastructure to is service users, typically consisting of a platform virtualization environment as a service, along with raw (block) storage and networking. Rather than purchasing servers, software, data-center, Licenses, Personnel or network equipment, the clients can instead buy those resources as a fully outsourced service. Suppliers typically bill such services on a utility computing basis; the amount of resources consumed or the tier of pre-agreed costs. Prominent providers of this service include Cisco systems and IBM There are other service models or framework services available and with the progressive continuity and growth there may be more in the future.

Cloud Computing Gartner Report

Gartners Prediction Cloud computing services exist along a spectrum from open public to closed private. The next three years will see the delivery of a range of cloud service approaches that fall between these two extremes. Vendors will offer packaged private cloud implementations that deliver the vendor's public cloud service technologies, software and/or hardware and methodologies in a form that can be implemented inside the consumer's enterprise. Many will also offer management services to remotely manage the cloud service implementation. Gartner expects large enterprises to have a dynamic sourcing team in place by 2012 that is responsible for ongoing cloud sourcing decisions and management. Gartner has predicted for 2011 that the cloud computing services will grow 21% annually leading to fierce competition and rise in profits. I agree with the prediction because IBM announce this year a predicted Income of $7 Billion by 2015 through growth and market share acquisitions. The news is similar at TATA consultancy services who have announced a target $1 billion in revenues in 2011 and AmazonEC2 are confident of maintaining 2011 annual revenues figures $221 million in the coming years. All in all the annual Global Cloud computing service industry will be worth $148.8 Billion in 2014 which mean nearly all of the 7 billion people on earth will be effected in some way or form be effected by it. By being third party subscribers or by being the statistic in its revenue stream.

How does sales force use cloud computing? More and more businesses are relying on cloud computing and moving their core software infrastructure 'into the cloud', but why? Just what is 'the cloud', and what are the unique benefits cloud computing architecture offers over traditional models, especially in the current economic climate? The cloud computing infrastructure also delivers remarkable savings in administrative costs-more than 50% when compared to client/server software. Cloud computing technology is the catalyst for wide scale change in the application development sector. The move to a cloud computing infrastructure is making it easy to build robust, enterprise-class applications, maintain a platform or access a service quickly and with relatively low costs. Salesforce.com uses the cloud computing infrastructure to free businesses from the negative traits of traditional software and infrastructures, its hidden costs, significant failure rates, unacceptable risks, reliability and protracted delays with implementation. At the same time, a cloud computing infrastructure provides a comprehensive, flexible platform that can meet the needs of companies of every size, from the largest enterprises to small and medium-sized businesses across the world. They offer tiers of membership that users or organizations can use to develop their IT needs from sales forces portfolio of services. Salesforce offers their customers the following advantages compared to non-cloud infrastructures and services Web-services integration World-class service delivery. No hardware or software installations: 100% cloud computing infrastructure. Faster and lower-risk deployment. Support for deep customisations. Empowered business users.. Automatic upgrades that don't impact IT resources. Pre-built, pre-integrated applications for cloud computing technology.

Salesforce operates and offers cloud services in three categories which are as follows. Sales cloud Service Cloud Custom cloud

The cloud services offer the customers the opportunity to enable their strategy to support their sales aims and improve on revenues. These cloud services offer CRM solutions, rapid application app development, Sales and accounts systems with integration and presence on the social networks. It also provides the opportunity to develop an area of weakness by using the cloud service as an infrastructure, service or custom service. The sales cloud does not only .provide a sales infrastructure but it provides all the facilities and value added services that may provide utility. Out-of-the-box features include analytics, offline access, and mobile deployment speed application development. There is no need to worry about managing and maintaining server infrastructures, even if applications scale to thousands of users because the cloud makes it effortless. IDC the International Data Centre believes that Force.com cloud services offer their users to build and deploy applications up to 5 times quicker compared to non-cloud services. A healthcare industry member needed to build a mobile app on the IPhone platform this application was developed in just four days compared to a target completion date of 6 months on a typical Microsoft development platform. These are the advantages of salesforce using cloud computing. Sales force allows oraginisation to reduce their workload, increase sales volume and reports say it saves upto 75% as it

doesnt need to maintain and manage its own data centre. It has recently promoted that using Salesforce can reduces your organizations carbon footprint inclining towards suggesting the organization may benefit from migrating to cloud services for tax rebates if carbon footprint or Green taxes become reality.
