Pump Control

Reduce energy and maintenance costs while increasing reliability and diagnostics with automated pump control. Benefits:
Reduce energy usage / costs Reduce maintenance costs Regulate hydraulic harmonics Improve process control and diagnostics Increase system reliability and uptime Reduce water hammer Near-unity power factor throughout speed ranges

The Challenges
Pump and flow control is the foundation of managing water and wastewater facilities. Fixed speed pumps make regulating water pressure and varying flow requirements complicated and time-consuming. Continuous-run high horsepower industrial pumps and blowers in the water industry are huge energy consumers and contribute to mechanical and electrical motor issues. Peak demand electricity charges can further increase energy costs. Reliability, efficiency and redundancy of pump systems are crucial to seamless water service to your customers, and lack of diagnostic information results in increased maintenance and downtime. Municipalities need to apply current technologies to run the pumps and motors for overall reduced operating costs.

Our industry experience means that you receive products and services that conform to stringent industry requirements, and produce real energy savings and provide greater control so you can demonstrate payback and minimize risk to the utility and your served community.

Water and wastewater pump control solutions that help you save energy and reduce operational costs.
Optimize Pump Control
Intelligent Motor Control solutions from Rockwell Automation combine leading-edge motor control and protection devices with advanced networking and diagnostic capabilities. You can improve speed and power control, reduce energy use, and access motor speed, voltage, power consumption, and fault condition information through networked variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control centers (MCCs) and smart motor controllers (SMCs). Excellent motor performance, reliability and reduced energy use Optimize motor performance and reduce energy use by regulating motor speed with VFDs to control system pressures and flows. They can also reduce or avoid peak demand utility charges by controlling fluctuations in water demand. The Allen-Bradley PowerFlex family of world class drives from 0.2 kW (0.25 Hp) to 25.4 MW (34000 Hp) all use the same communication interfaces for easy integration. PowerFlex 7000 medium voltage drives operate at minimum 96 percent efficiency and provide near unity power factor throughout the speed range. Integrate the Powermonitor 3000 power quality and submetering monitor in pumping stations, electrical rooms, and purification and water-discharging equipment to get real-time power quality data, harmonics analysis, oscillography, and sub-metering via a variety of communication protocols. Motor protection and reduced maintenance Achieve optimal motor performance and extended motor life through networked control and protection features from Rockwell Automation. Allen-Bradley CENTERLINE MCCs use the time proven and industry leading CENTERLINE bus design. This bus design allows for improved heat dissipation, easier installation and maintenance and increased current carrying capacity. PowerFlex VFDs eliminate most harmonics issues and help protect motors and other electronic equipment. Allen-Bradley SMC Flex smart motor controllers help reduce water hammer, offer electronic motor overload protection, metering and built-in DPI communications. Allen-Bradley intelligent motor control products help you access diagnostic information to simplify maintenance and troubleshooting, and help reduce downtime. Embedded startup routines, common language parameters and local parameter arrangements reduce programming and troubleshooting time. Reduce your operating costs, total cost of ownership and provide future expandability with full water and wastewater solutions and support services from Rockwell Automation.
