This first part of the research into similar music magazines should be done in classtime, Independent Learning time and as homework. You would be expected to complete this within 2 weeks with the deadline for the analysis of all 3 magazines being..................................... . It is important you keep to these internal deadlines because you will then be set other tasks that relate to the coursework booklet and it will cause you stress if you leave it all to do at once- so chip away at the work

What is a music magazine? - A music magazine is a magazine that gives you information on all different types of music depending on the genre of the magazine. It also gives you information on the latest news about a particular band, any gigs that are coming soon and if the band is releasing a new album or single. - Each music magazine has its own sub-genre and own audience 2. What content (text/copy/writing/articles/stories) would you expect to find in a music magazine? - Articles about different bands; what they are doing, if theyre on tour or releasing a new single/album. - Interviews with different bands - Stories about different band members; e.g. the meaning behind certain songs, their past - Unseen pictures about the band; exclusive photo shoots. - Posters + reviews on gigs and CDs

3. What images would you expect to find in a music magazine? - Pictures of the band together taken on that day; exclusive photo shoot. - Pictures of the band on tour, or pictures of the band doing their day-day life.

4. Identify general characteristics/ Features that you would expect to find in all music magazines.
Header; Summary of whats going to be in the magazine. Sometimes contains freebies and competitions. Masthead; always positioned at the top because when its on the shelf thats where the reader looks and dominants the frame Main Image; on a music magazine will always be a band; name of the band is anchored so the reader knows who it is. Always dominants the frame

Strap lines; gives information on other content that is going to be appearing in the magazine.

Main Cover line; tells you what the main story is going to be about. Gives you a little bit of information on the band which is the main image.

Bar Code; always positioned out of the way, mainly towards the bottom and out of sight
