Shift from DSM to DemandSide Response (DR)

The Demand Side Management (DSM) is relatively static in nature. DSM is aimed at a high level management of Maximum Demand. There is no actual cash flow between customers and electricity distribution utilities Any benefits due to successful DSM are reflected in the overall reduced demand charges and energy charges over a period of time , usually a year. DR Programs are designed for directly utilizing customer responsiveness to meet economic or reliability concerns for the grid and monetize the participation based on performance.
