Performance appraisal is the systematic description of an employee's job relevant strengths and weaknesses. Meaning of Performance Appraisal: In a Performance appraisal, the employee's merits such as initiative, regularity, loyalty, personality, etc., are compared with others. Then each employee is rated or ranked. That is, he is given a particular rank such as First Rank, Second Rank, etc. So if an employee has the best attendance then he is given First Rank in attendance and so on. The terms that involved in performance appraisal are: 1- Rater: The person who evaluates the employees is called the Rater or Appraiser. 2- Rate: The employee who is rated is called the Rite. 3- Rating: The process of performance appraisal is called Rating. Methods of Performance Appraisal: There are two techniques or methods of performance appraisal, Old methods of performance appraisal and modern methods of performance appraisal. Objectives of Performance Appraisal Performance Appraisal: a- To maintain records in order to determine compensation packages, wage structure, salaries raises, etc. b- To identify the strengths and weaknesses of employees to place right men on right job. c- To maintain and assess the potential present in a person for further growth and development. d- To provide a feedback to employees regarding their performance and related status. e- To provide a feedback to employees regarding their performance and related status. f- It serves as a basis for influencing working habits of the employees. g- To review and retain the promotional and other training programs.

360 degrees performance appraisal is a highly effective tool in companies that can be utilized in a performance management program or as part of a self evaluation during a career coaching program. And can provide information about employees performance in order to make important decisions. Performance appraisal process is based on the opinion of different groups of reviewers who socialize with evaluated employees, since they can truly respond to how an employee develops his job. Moreover, the process includes the opinion of employee about him-self. This kind of performance appraisal named 360 degrees appraisal.

3- Explain various types of training that can be conducted by companies in developing their employees!
At different stages of employees` careers need different kinds of training and different kinds of development experiences. Although a business degree might prepare students for their first job, they will need to gain knowledge and skills through education and experience as they progress through their career. Company can impact training and development significantly through the responsibilities in an employees current job. Expand the job to include new higher level responsibilities. Assigned responsibilities that the employee does not like or that are routine. Provide more authority for the employee to self-manage and make decisions. Invite the employee to contribute to more important, department or company`s decisions and planning. Provide more access to important and desirable meetings. Provide more information by including the employee on specific mailing lists, in company briefings, and in your confidence. Provide more opportunity to establish goals, priorities, and measurements. Assign reporting staff members to his or her leadership or supervision. Assign the employee to head up projects or teams. Enable the employee to spend more time with his or her boss.

4- Explain what does BARS stand for and what is it?


BARS stands for Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scale. And it is an employee rating system that grades based on patterns or behaviors.

5- Explain what it means by employee outsourcing!


Employee Outsourcing is a contracting out of business process, which an organization may have previously performed internally or has a new need for, to an independent organization from which the process is purchased back as a service. Though the practice of purchasing a business function instead of providing it internally is a common feature of any modern economy, the term outsourcing became popular near the turn of the 21st century. An outsourcing deal may also involve transfer of the employees and assets involved to the outsourcing business partner. Employee outsourcing for foreign contract described as a company taking a function out of their business and relocating it to another country. The opposite of outsourcing is called insourcing, and is sometimes accomplished via vertical integration. However, a business can provide a contract service to another business without necessarily insourcing that business process.
